Wright, Larry Thomas, age 74, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died December 10, 2021. Larry was born in Lebanon, TN and was the son of the late, Herbert Thomas “Hub” Wright and Mary Catherine “Kathryn” Honeycutt Wright. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was stationed in Cam Ranh Bay, Vietnam. Larry was a longtime farmer in Wilson County. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Larry was also a NASCAR fan and a history buff.

He is survived by:

Children – Tammy Wright Taylor, Brian (Jessica) Wright, Nikki Hixson

               and LeAnne Carter

Sisters – Linda (Jimmy) York and Audrey Lane

Baker, Johnnie Ophelia “Tillie”, age 89, of Hermitage, TN, died December 22, 2021. Tillie was born in Mt. Juliet, TN and was the daughter of the late, George Washington Baker and Sallie Melvin Baker. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Tillie retired from South Central Bell with 38 years of service. She was a volunteer at Summit Medical Center for 20 years.

She is survived by:

Breshears, Joan Elaine “Joanie”, age 70, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died December 13, 2021. Joanie was born in Madison, TN and was the daughter of the late, Willie Atwood Cantrell and Eula Chism Cantrell. She was a graduate of Dupont High School and Middle Tennessee University. Joanie was a member of the Mt. Juliet Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Etheridge, Robert Kenneth “Ken”, age 78, of Lebanon, TN, died December 19, 2021. Ken was born in Nashville, TN and was the son of the late, George W. “Al” Etheridge and Alma Christine Bradley Etheridge. He was a member and Deacon at Immanuel Baptist Church. Ken was a 1961 graduate of Mt. Juliet High School and earned an Associate degree from Cumberland University. He also attended Austin Peay University and Belmont University. He retired from Dupont after 36 years of service. Ken was an avid golfer and also enjoyed reading. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald Etheridge and George Wayne Etheridge.

He is survived by:

Wife of 58 years – Sandra Gray Etheridge

Son – Kevin (Jenny) Etheridge

Daughter – Kelley (Barry) Graves

Brother – Paul Etheridge

Grandchildren – Erin Etheridge (Chandler) Clark and Trent Graves

Gibson, Melissa Jill, age 56, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died December 21, 2021. Jill was born in Kingsport, TN and was the daughter of the late, Bobbie Jean Gibson and Reba Jean Collins Gibson. She was a graduate of Mt. Juliet High School. Jill loved the beach and enjoyed spending time with her family. Her grandchildren affectionately called her Honey.

Perry, Betty June, age 85, of Lebanon, TN, died December 25, 2021. Mrs. Perry was born in Cleveland, VA and was the daughter of the late, Grover Cleveland Willis and Bessie Eleanor Combs Willis. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church. Mrs. Perry enjoyed birdwatching, reading and watching movies. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Cecil Perry; sister, Mary Sue Jackson and brothers, Dexter Willis and Larry Willis.

Kittrell, Sadie Valeda, age 84, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died December 23, 2021. Valeda was born in Carthage, TN and was the daughter of the late, George Sampson and Mayrene Bennett Sampson. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Lebanon. Valeda worked for many years at Textile Converters, Inc. and she also worked alongside her husband at Kittrell Builders. She enjoyed sewing, reading, working puzzles and playing cards. Valeda was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Wayne Kittrell; son, Barry Kittrell and siblings, Flora Sanders, Opal Kittrell, Virginia Gibbs, Bessie Johnson and Bobby Sampson.

She is survived by:

McKinney, Billie Marie Coffee, age 91, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died December 25, 2021. Billie was born in Lebanon, TN and was the daughter of the late, Baxter Coffee and Willie Ethel Bennett Coffee. She was a member of the Donelson Fellowship. Billie was retired from Memorial Hospital and Trans Pat. Billie enjoyed cooking, gardening and camping. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert McKinney, Sr.; son, Robert “Bobby” McKinney, Jr. and siblings, Nathan Marty Proctor, Mike Proctor, Ray Proctor and Barbara Parker.

She is survived by:

Morris, Thomas Myles, age 72, of Old Hickory, TN, died December 26, 2021. Tom was born in Augusta, GA and was the son of the late, Myles Whitaker Morris and Frances Parker Wilson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and salesman for many years in the grocery and automotive industries. Tom enjoyed coaching football and baseball, and being a Boy Scout leader, when his sons were growing up. Tom loved the outdoors and enjoyed riding the backroads of Tennessee on his Harley. One memorable ride that he talked about was a ride to Lynchburg, TN with Evil Knievel riding along. He was preceded in death by his son, David Anthony Morris and his brother, Donald Whitaker Morris.

He is survived by:

Wife of 49 years – Darlene Crowder Morris

Sons – Matthew Thomas Morris and Barry Scott Allen

Sisters – Jo Marie (Jerry Wayne) Mangrum, Lavada (Ben) Marthin and

Ramona Pollard (Frantz), age 86, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died December 28, 2021. Ramona was born in Greenville, NC and was the daughter of the late, Teide Edgar Pollard and Appie Moore Pollard. She grew up on a farm and loved being around her siblings. She married and lived in Salt Lake City, Utah then moved to Seattle, Washington for a few years. In 1979 she moved to Tennessee. Ramona spent many years in the banking industry. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing, quilting, and traveling. Ramona loved spending time with family, especially while playing card games and Scrabble. Her coconut cream pie and toffee were rivaled by none. She was a patient mother and adoring grandmother. Her warm heart and sense of humor will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Earl Pollard, Jesse Pollard, Joan Pollard, Rachel Wintamute and Bobbie Long.

She is survived by:

Gibi, John Gerard, age 65, passed away suddenly December 29 at Sarah Cannon Cancer Center from complications of stem cell transplant during a courageous and valiant eight-month battle with multiple myeloma. John made the world a better place just by being in it. His boundless enthusiasm and unwavering work ethic were his trademarks. He could light up a room with his smile and easy-going personality. His random acts of kindness were endless. He made everyone feel special and loved. Born in Hornell, New York, John was a 1974 graduate of Fairview Park High School in Cleveland, Ohio. He attended Ohio University before earning a bachelor’s degree in agriculture and soil science from Tennessee Technological University in 1978. John was a Licensed Soil Scientist for the state of Tennessee and a highly sought-after soils consultant for his expertise in a career spanning 42 years. His hobbies included carpentry, woodworking and home projects of all kinds; he was a true renaissance man. He was an instrument rated pilot who found peace flying in the skies. John’s real passion was music. He was an accomplished guitarist, vocalist and mandolin player who loved jamming with other musicians, especially the neighborhood Basement Band. He was preceded in death by parents, John Joseph and Eileen Gibi; sister Michelle Starr, and beloved cat Leo.

He is survived by:

Wheelock, Deann Raymond, age 60, of Antioch, TN, died December 26, 2021. Deann was born in Hastings, MI and was the daughter of the late, Gordon Dean Raymond and Kay Ellen Raymond. She was a registered nurse with St. Thomas West in Interventional Radiology. Deann was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and being with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by brother, Scott Raymond and nephew, Jacob Raymond.

Ferris, Kathryn Louise (Reno), age 82, of Mt. Juliet, TN, passed away December 31, 2021, surrounded by her family. Kate was born June 28, 1939 in Avon, IL and was the daughter of Kenneth L. Reno and Coleith (Bivens) Reno. She married Howard Ferris on June 13, 1958, in Bushnell, IL. She was a loving wife, mother, and a great friend. She enjoyed her family, traveling, dancing, writing poetry, and weekly dinners with friends. Her laugh was contagious. She truly will be missed.

She is survived by her 4 children: Steve Ferris of Mt Juliet, TN, Laurie Coots of Turney, Mo, Sara (James) Mehaffey of Watertown, TN, and Jennifer (Dan) Melton of Athens, AL.

Grandchildren: Garry (Jenney) Paul, Niki (Steven) Russell, Kimberly Coots, Katelynn (Eli) Ussery, Kobie Melton, Hunter Mehaffey, Stratton Mehaffey.

Great Grandchildren: Aaliyah, TyLer, BreAnna, Kyler, Addi, Keaton, Drake, BrynLee, Marek, and Madelyn. And her brother Phil (Lou) Reno.

 

Kate was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard A. Ferris; sisters, Linda Bell and Carolyn Clark; grandson, Andrew Ferris and great-grandson, Garrett Paul.

 

At Kate’s request, her remains will be cremated, and a family celebration of life will be at a later date.
