Mary Katherine Hinton Merritt

Mary Katherine Hinton Merritt, 69, of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, passed away on October 27, 2026. Born in Clarksville, Tennessee, to Don Stuart Hinton Sr. and Katherine Connell Lockert Hinton, Mary will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

With a passion for travel, Mary worked as a travel agent, which allowed her to visit many new places. She also had a lifelong love of flying, earning her pilot’s license at a young age.

A dedicated member of Brentwood Hills Church of Christ, Mary engaged in numerous ministries, including teaching in the Spanish ministry and enjoying the camaraderie of game nights, which showcased her wonderful sense of humor.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughter, Ashley Merritt; her brothers, Walter Hinton and Don Stuart Hinton Jr.; her step-sisters, Melissa Kay Hinton, Vicky Lou Ashcraft, and Tonja Ann Clann; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses. While there will be no formal services, Mary will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and loved ones.
