Dennis Wayne “Papa” Oldfield, born on February 4, 1948, in Tullahoma, TN, passed away on September 12, 2026. He was the beloved son of the late James Thurman Oldfield and Grace Jean Hardy. Dennis will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
As a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, he served both God and his country with honor. Not only was he a Godly man that walked with Christ, but he lived his life as a quiet reflection of Christs love. He loved his family deeply as well as his Church family. A devoted member of Victory Baptist Church, Dennis exemplified faith and community. He refused to let hardships sour his spirit and that challenges and hardships were just a detour down life’s highway. He had a calm and easygoing spirit that was slow to anger yet quick to forgive.
He was a loving father, father-in-law, grandfather, and brother. His hobbies included golf, hunting, fishing, and watching old westerns, with a special fondness for his favorite TV show, M*A*S*H. Professionally, he was an accomplished accountant.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, James T. Oldfield and Grace Jean Oldfield, his brother James Greg Oldfield, his sister Jill Vondohlen, and his beautiful wife, Alice "Gran" Oldfield. He is survived by his sons Daryl (Jennifer) Oldfield and Tyler Oldfield, his brother Barry (Teresa) Oldfield, his sister Christy Alexander, his grandchild Austin (Olivia) Oldfield, and his great-grandbaby Holland Alice Oldfield.
