James Harold Withers

James Harold Withers, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2026, at the age of 89. Born to James and Lillian Allene Withers, he was a shining example of a good Christian man throughout his life.

Harold was employed for over 40 years at GAF in maintenance, where he became known for his incredible ability to fix anything and everything. He was devoted to helping everyone in the community that needed help. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He attended Donelson High School, and it was there he laid the foundation for a life devoted to hard work, faith, and family. Harold married his beloved wife, Ella Dawn Withers, and together they shared an incredible 63 years of marriage, nurturing a loving home filled with laughter and compassion. Harold was a devoted member of Hermitage Church of God for over 60 years, where he built lasting friendships and found a community that reflected his strong faith.

Harold had a passion for fishing, which he enjoyed immensely, as well as spending time with his grandchildren and his cherished parakeet, Buttercup. His greatest joy came from his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Raymond Withers. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ella Dawn Withers.

He is survived by his sons, Terry (Tammy) Withers and Troy (Karen) Withers, his siblings William Withers (Janie), Wanda Green, and Ron (Anna) Withers, and his beloved grandchildren, TJ (Kellie), Daniel (Brook), Michael, and Lance. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Brie, Henry, and Harvey, and is survived by numerous other family members.

A funeral service to celebrate Harold’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 11 AM at Grace Place Church in Hermitage, located at 4316 Central Pike, Hermitage, TN 37076, officiated by Pastor Tim Sharp and Pastor Tommy Dove. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will take place at the church on Tuesday evening from 4 PM to 7 PM, and on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Grace Place Church.

Harold’s legacy of love, service, and devotion will forever be cherished and remembered by all who knew him.
