Agee, Robert Rhea, age 90, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died April 4, 2021. Mr. Agee was born in Mt. Juliet, TN and was the son of the late, Delton Lee Agee and Odessa Lee Thompson Agee. He was a graduate of Mt. Juliet High School and could have gone on to play professional baseball, but joined the military instead. Mr. Agee was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in General Patton’s Hell on Wheels Brigade. He retired as Vice President of C.B. Ragland Company after 53 years of service. Mr. Agee was a member of Victory Baptist Church. He enjoyed traveling and was a charter member of the Nashville Music City Air Stream Club. Mr. Agee was also preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mildred Jones Agee and 3 siblings.

He is survived by:

Johnson, David Lee, age 55, of Mt. Juliet, TN, passed away April 10, 2021. Lee was born in Decatur, Alabama and was the son of the late, William Arthur and Brenda Rae Johnson. He was a 1983 graduate of Dupont High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne Division. Lee was the owner of Johnson and Sons Enterprises, LLC and worked hard his whole life. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and camping with his family. His favorite activity was watching his wife catch lots of fish. Nothing gave him more joy than being with his family, watching his children and grandchildren grow and loving his wife.

He is survived by his loving wife and beautiful family, which he adored:

Carter, Will Ann Bolden, age 75, of Old Hickory, TN, died April 7, 2021. Ann was born in Nashville, TN and was the daughter of the late, Allen Bolden and Pauline Weakley Bolden. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church and a former member of Madison Heights Baptist Church. Ann was an antique dealer and formerly owned The Antique Exchange Mall on 8th Avenue in Nashville and Carter’s Antiques and The Antique Shop and Tea Room in the Franklin Historic District. She was very generous and nothing gave her greater pleasure than giving to others. Ann was also preceded in death by her grandmother, Anne Mae Bolden; sister, Mary Elizabeth Spears and brother, Michael Donald Bolden.

She is survived by:

Husband of 47 years – Gene Carter

Children – Stephen K. (Jennifer) Green, Lesley (Allen) Curtis,

               Lisa (Patrick) Bastain and Joey B. (Monique) Johnson

Robinson, Helen Joan, age 78, of Portland, TN and formerly of Mt. Juliet, TN, died April 14, 2021. Mrs. Robinson was born in Poughkeepsie, NY and was the daughter of the late, Arthur Chambers and Helen Rose Chambers. She served as a teacher’s aide for many years. Mrs. Robinson enjoyed painting, drawing, sewing and quilting. She married Don McGill, the father of her children, in 1958 and later married Carson Robinson in 1982. They both preceded her in death.

She is survived by:

Children – Donald McGill, James (Mary) McGill, Dennis (Linda) McGill

               and Laura Robinson

Grandchildren – Andrea, Ryan, Anthony, Judy, Jennifer, Joseph, Chelsie

                       and her bonus grandson, Allen

Ruff, August Cleveland, age 83, of Mt. Juliet, TN, peacefully passed away on April 16, 2021. August was first and foremost a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. He was born in Athens, Alabama and was the son of the late, Walter Eberhart Ruff and Nellie Clementine Bridges Ruff. He was a member and an Elder at Green Hill Church of Christ where he had preached for over 20 years. He spent his adult life as a minister and preacher of the gospel of Jesus Christ. August earned his Doctorate in Divinity from Harding Graduate School in Memphis, TN. He has served for many years on the Board of Directors at Potter Children’s Home and Family Ministries in Bowling Green, KY, was a former Little League coach, was very civic minded and was a former member and President of the Lions Club. August was an avid Alabama football fan – “Roll Tide”. He was always friendly, funny, engaging and interested in and willing to help everyone he met. He literally never met a stranger. He was a living example of the love of Jesus to his family and all he encountered.

He is survived by:

Lassiter, Shelvie Roscoe, age 88, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died April 19, 2021. Roscoe was born in Nashville, TN and was the son of the late, Shelvie Roscoe Conklin Lassiter and Fanny Maye Briggs Lassiter. For many years he owned and operated Mid-Way Paving Company. Roscoe enjoyed horses, farming, camping, bluegrass music and classic cars. He was also preceded in death by his wives, Helen Ruth Lassiter and Wanda Jane Lassiter; 12 siblings; children, Jerry Wayne Blackshear and Judy Lassiter and granddaughter, Tiffany Elaine Durrett.

He is survived by:

Children – Barbara Brown, Rocky Lassiter, Troy Lee Lassiter and

               Kevin Mark Lassiter

Grandchildren – Thomas Brown, Anthony Brown, Jackie (Mitchell) Ward,

Grayson, Richard John, was born August 23, 1938 in Mishawaka, IN. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, John and Ann Grayson and the love of his life, Ella Leigh Grayson. Richard graduated from West End High School in 1956. He married his wife of forty years in 1961. Richard and Ella met in world famous Printer's Alley in Nashville, TN. Richard sometimes played piano where Ella served drinks. Initially, they had a disagreement over his bar tab. He had an arrangement with the club owner to drink for free in exchange for playing the piano. She ended up agreeing to go on a date, which turned into a lifelong love story. Richard and Ella made their home in Donelson, TN. They raised their two daughters, Lori and Gena there before moving to Mt Juliet, TN in 1990. The couple loved traveling. They visited the islands of the Caribbean extensively and enjoyed many vacations during their marriage. Richard worked as a dispatcher for Yellow Freight in Donelson, TN from 1965-1983. In 1988, Richard left the transport industry to join Ella at the Tanning Place on Murfreesboro Rd. They worked together until they sold their business and retired in 1998. After the loss of his wife in 2001, Richard took a part time job at Mannheim Auto Auction in Lebanon, TN. He genuinely enjoyed his time at Mannheim, working right up until the tornado and pandemic in March of 2020. Richard always loved cars, especially fast cars. He was avid fan of NASCAR. His 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air won hundreds of trophies and awards at car shows he regularly attended. He also loved being outside. He was known by his lifelong neighbors in both Donelson and Mt. Juliet for always working in his yard, keeping everything meticulous. He maintained his wife's many plants and flowerbeds after she passed away. Richard never remarried, he honored and kept his wife's memory alive until the time of his own death. He loved his family. He was a very active and involved father, grandpa/papaw/poppy in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He passed peacefully at his home on April 14, 2021.

He is survived by:

Daughters-Lori Grayson Peek (Tony) and Gena Grayson

Grandchildren-Alston Peek (Haley), Grayson Peek (Anna), Derek Depriest

                    and Ella Boleware

Sister- Karen Grayson Tritley.

 

Bond Memorial Chapel fulfilled his wish to be cremated. He will be honored at a later time during a private beachside Celebration of Life with immediate family.

Crook, James Allen “J.J.”, age 51, of Rutherford County, TN, died April 22, 2021. J.J. was a graduate of Lebanon High School, Class of 1988. After graduation, J.J. served in the U.S. Air Force and was currently employed in the medical field as a Registered Radiologic Technologist. J.J. had a big heart and a beautiful spirit. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, spending time outdoors, hanging out with his friends and most of all spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father.

Holt, Maxie Gene, age 75, of Mt. Juliet, TN, and formerly of Clarksville, TN, died April 27, 2021. Mr. Holt was a member and Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church of Mt. Juliet. His Sunday School Class was broadcasted internationally online weekly. He retired, after 22 years, at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel from the U.S. Army. After his military career, Mr. Holt was a minister and preacher of the gospel of Jesus Christ in Texas and at Robertson Avenue Baptist Church in Copperas Cove Texas and at Hilldale Baptist Church in Clarksville, TN. Mr. Holt founded Max Holt Media Publishing in May of 2015 to publish his family's books and to provide Christian Single resources for singles and churches. He loved to travel and had visited over 40 countries and 28 states. Mr. Holt was a Silver Medalist in Ping Pong in the Senior Olympics. He was an accomplished musician and enjoyed playing the guitar, banjo, mandolin and fiddle. Mr. Holt was the son of the late, William Kelly Holt and Willie Louise Roberts Holt. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Sandra Ann Sims Holt and brothers, Bruce Holt and Dan Holt.

He is survived by:

Sons – Steve (Hollie) Holt and Eddie (Laura) Holt

Siblings – Neecie Adams, Willie Holt, Edna Holmes, Jack Holt, John Holt,

              Frank Holt and Connie Hall

Grandchildren – Harrison Holt, Evan Holt, Olivia Holt, Owen Holt, Cole Vowell

                      and Carlie Vowell

Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2021 at First Baptist Church, 735 N. Mt. Juliet Road, Mt. Juliet, TN with Dr. Phillip Dunn and Dr. Larry Robertson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time Sunday at the church. Interment will be at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas, TX.
