Carolyn Alice Urquhart Hayes

Carolyn Alice Urquhart Hayes passed away on October 29, 2026, in Nashville, TN. Born to Marshall Virgin and Mary Andrews Virgin in Fulton, KY, Carolyn lived a life full of love, learning, and laughter.

Carolyn dedicated 35 years of her life to the Metro Nashville Public Schools, where she inspired countless 5th and 6th graders. Not only was Carolyn passionate about teaching, but in her free time she loved gardening and singing, which brought joy to those around her. A devoted family woman, she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Gene Virgin, and her first husband, Mack Urquhart. Carolyn leaves behind her loving husband, Bobby Hayes; her daughter Amanda (Eric) Wey; her son James (Kami) Urquhart; and her cherished grandchildren, Aislinn, Justin, Gracyn, Elijah, Gideon, Ezra, and Elia.

A funeral service to honor Carolyn’s remarkable life will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 11 AM at Bond Memorial Chapel, officiated by Brother William Willey. Interment will follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, and also from 4 PM to 6 PM on Tuesday, November 3.

Carolyn’s spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
