Hull, Vivian Eakes, age 78, of Hermitage, TN, died June 8, 2020. Vivian was a member of Bakers Grove Baptist Church. She was retired from Dupont and enjoyed genealogy. Mrs. Hull was preceded in death by her father, Smith Houston Eakes; sister, Linda Friar; granddaughters, Amanda Gail Fudge and Bailie Ann Fudge Locke and great-great grandson, Andrew Dickson Locke.

She is survived by:

Jennings, Lois Arlene LaTondress, age 92, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died June 7, 2020. Lois was born in Akron, OH on February 19, 1928 to the late, Louis and Irene Jordan LaTondress. She was the oldest of nine children that included sisters, Joy, Margie and Audrey and brothers, Harry, Bob, Jack, Dan and Wayne. Due to the death of her father when she was sixteen, she helped raise and support her siblings by working at a drug store and lunch counter. It was there that Lois met a Tennessee boy by the name of Maurice “Punk” Jennings who was working for Goodyear and eating meals at the lunch counter. After graduation from high school, she moved to Tennessee to marry Punk in November of 1947. Their love story continued until his death in 1980; actually it continued until her death because it was always “Lois and Punk”. Lois worked with Punk at his grocery stores, at Winn Dixie and with the school system. She was a talented porcelain artist and enjoyed several years of china painting with her “Painting Pals” group.

She is survived by:

Daughter – Melody Jennings-Griffin

Step-grandson – Anthony (Amanda) Griffin and family of Olive Branch, MS

Many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews

 

Funeral services will be conducted 12 noon Friday, June 12, 2020 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Rev. Billie Friel and Bill Wolfenbarger officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Grant Jackson, Preston Lay, Mark LaRocca, Dylan LaRocca, Bobby Colson, Dr. Pete Davis, Sherlie Bates and Frank Jennings. Honorary pallbearers will be John Boyles, Grady Lynn, Dan and Sue Alexander, Jerry Smith, the China Painting Pals, Hillview friends and neighbors, Jason Brockman, Dr. Bernard Pare’, her namesake, Lois Marks Bentz, Wayne Murphy, LaVelle and Jimmy Allen, Charlene LaTondress, Chandra and Courtney Jackson and Maddie.

 

The family wishes to especially thank Carrick Glen and Avalon Hospice for the care and friendship given to Lois. She was happy at her Carrick Glen home for seven months.

Stroupe, David Marshall, age 88, a native of Gaffney, SC and a resident of Mt. Juliet, TN, died June 5, 2020. Mr. Stroupe was a member of First Baptist Church in North Augusta, SC and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was the son of the late, Wood Moore and Minnie McCullough Stroupe. Mr. Stroupe was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Kennedy Darwin Stroupe and his second wife, Weese McKnight Burton Stroupe. He was also preceded in death by his step-children, Edward Darwin and Janice Burton (Keith) Holland and his brother, Wilton Stroupe.

He is survived by:

Step-son – Jerry (Sherry) Darwin of Gaffney, SC

Step-son-in-law – Michael Lee (Laurie) Burton of Arkansas

Step-daughter-in-law – Edith Darwin of Gaffney, SC

Gill, Keith Blaine “Hobo”, age 65, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died June 9, 2020. Keith grew up in Donelson, TN and was a 1974 graduate of McGavock High School. Keith began his career with UPS by washing package cars at the Murfreesboro Center. He later had a package route and was eventually promoted to management in the 1980’s and worked in the district, region and corporate headquarters in Atlanta. He also was a DTS instructor in Chicago. Keith retired from UPS with 38 years of service. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Al Menah Shrine Temple, a volunteer for the USO and the Wilson County Fair and an avid motorcycle rider. Keith was the son of the late, George Connie and Elizabeth Ann Petrie Gill. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Mark Gill and his niece, Ashley Gill.

He is survived by:

Wife – Renee Gentry Gill

Daughters – Whitney (Jason) Sparks and Hayley (Steve Jones) Shelton

Brothers – Bruce (Sue) Gill, Jeffrey (Kathy) Gill and Brent (Patti) Gill

Simonsen, Wayne Hugh, age 93, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died June 8, 2020. Mr. Simonsen was retired from International Harvester. He was the son of the late, Albert Emanuel and Sarah Elizabeth Montgomery Simonsen. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Jeanne Johnson Simonsen.

Eakes, Marion Constance Lannom “Connie”, age 85, of Lebanon, TN, died April 17, 2020. Connie was a member of Rocky Valley Baptist Church. She was a member of the Phoebe’s and the Red Hat Society. Connie was the daughter of the late, Escoe and Ida Wade Lannom. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Eakes; granddaughter, Katie Jordan and siblings, Willard Lannom, Wayner Lannom, Morris Lannom, Evelyn Harvey, Kathleen Bishop and Cheryl Watson.

She is survived by:

Carter, Joseph Franklin, age 95, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died June 15, 2020. Mr. Carter was a member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Juliet and a veteran serving in the Merchant Marines. He was a member of John B. Garret Masonic Lodge and was also a member of the Scottish Rite. Mr. Carter retired from Ford Glass Plant. He was the son of the late, Thomas and Donie Billions Carter. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mamie Sue Thompson Carter.

He is survived by:

Daughters – Claudia (Tim) Hargrove, Carol Allison and Janie (Mike) Warner

Scoggin, Paul Stephen, age 81, of Lebanon, TN, died peacefully at his home on June 17, 2020 with his trusted dog, Daisy by his side. Mr. Scoggin believed in the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a retired electrician from Ford Glass Plant with 39 years of service. Mr. Scoggin was a lifetime member of the United Auto Workers Local #737 and the NRA. He loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed old cars, civil war history, genealogy and metal detecting. Mr. Scoggin was the son of the late, Victor Griffin and Dorothy Dabbs Scoggin. He was preceded in death by his wives, Victoria Faye Holden Scoggin and Beverly Shumake Scoggin. Our patron and mentor will be greatly missed.

He is survived by:

Sons – Victor Lloyd Scoggin, Paul Griffin Scoggin and Troy Stephen Scoggin

Step-son – Erik Scoggin Elrod

Grandchildren – Stephen, Amanda, Tanner and Kendel

Jones, Amanda Catharine, age 24, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died June 17, 2020. Amanda was a member of the Nashville First Church of the Nazarene. She was a 2013 graduate of Heritage Christian Academy and was an Elite Leader with Younique, a cosmetic corporation. Amanda pursued her dreams and was an American Idol “Tweetheart”, a Disney cast member/trainer at the Trolley Car Cafe and a Jungle Safari tour guide at Magic Kingdom. She was an encourager of people and a beacon of pure Light. She had an impact on people all around the world through her social media platform. Amanda was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Betty Thames Jones.

She is survived by:

Brother – Nathan Jones

Sisters – Allison (Jason) Farley and Abby (Chad) McAdory

She earned a Bachelor’s degree from William Jewell College and a Master’s degree from Vanderbilt University. Diana was a Nurse Practitioner. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. Diana was preceded in death by her mother Janet Turrentine Thompson and her infant son, Joseph Spencer Storey.

Malone, Neva Joyce Lovell, age 83, of Hermitage, TN, died June 27, 2020.

Mrs. Malone was a member of Central Pike Church of Christ. She and her husband, Robert, owned and operated Malone’s Garden Center from 1972-1998. Mrs. Malone was the daughter of the late, Dempsey and Antate Wallace Lovell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ray Malone and her siblings, Billy, Jack and Corinne

She is survived by:

Sons – Tim (Terri) Malone and Mike (Tammy) Malone

Brothers – Gerald Lovell and Larry (Debbie) Lovell

Sisters – Faye Pugh, Dimple (Gerald) Barlow and Donna (Ivan) Cancel

Butler, Suzanne Williams, age 63, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died June 30, 2020. Suzanne was a 1975 graduate of Dupont High School and was retired from the Metro Nashville Police Department. Her children and granddaughter, Kamryn, who she described as her heartbeat, along with her family, were the most important things to her. She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Joe Williams; her nephew, Alex Hendrix and step-father, Bobby “Moon” Trotter.

She is survived by:

Mother – Beulah (John) Carillon

Brothers – Mark (Heidi) Williams and Eddie (Rita) Williams
