Tinnell, Kiyoko Nakamura, age 91, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died January 2, 2022. Mrs. Tinnell was a member of The Donelson Fellowship. She was an accomplished artist. Mrs. Tinnell also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and reading. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, brother, and her husband, Conde "Al" Tinnell.

She is survived by:

Alexander, Sue Nell Earps, age 83, of Red Boiling Springs, TN, died January 3, 2022. Sue was born in Carthage, TN and was the daughter of the late, Cordell Earps and Evelyn Adell Butts Earps. She worked for many years as a surgical technician at St. Thomas Hospital. Sue was an avid reader and enjoyed embroidering. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Robert Clair “Bob” Alexander; sister, Linnie Blackaby and son-in-law, Troy Ashburn.

Landers, Carolyn Faye Saynes, age 74, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died January 4, 2022. Carolyn was born in Chattanooga, TN and was the daughter of the late, James Edward Saynes and Mae Dell Rogers Saynes. She was a retired Registered Nurse. Carolyn enjoyed the beach, Sudoku puzzles, traveling, and collecting Spode Christmas dishes. Her home was filled with love and lighthouses.

Jancarek, Emma Ann Shiflet, age 84, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died January 6, 2022. Ann was born in Hart County, GA and was the daughter of the late, Willie Shiflet and Verona Lawton Shiflet Floyd. She was a member of Dodson Chapel United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of the UMW. Over the years, Ann was employed as a secretary by the FDA, the CDC and Tennessee Farm Bureau. She was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan.

Hajek, Wilbur Allen, age 90, of Lebanon, TN died on Jan 8, 2022. Wilbur was born Feb 18, 1931 in Ft Worth, Texas the 5th of 9 children to Joseph and Lea Hajek. He married his high school sweetheart, Billie Kay Doyle and together they raised 4 children making their home in various states, Texas, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada and Tennessee. Wilbur worked over 50 years in the Oil Industry selling mining and drilling equipment. He was also a cattle farmer and loved working outdoors. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, his bigger than Texas personality, and his great love for his family. He is preceded in death by wives, Kay Hajek and Imogene Everett; his parents, Joseph and Lea Hajek; his brother, Edward Hajek and sisters, Mary Jo Worthington and Janine Richardson.

He is survived by:

Sappington, Albert LeVoy, age78, of Mt. Juliet, TN died January 6, 2022.

LeVoy was born in Woodward, Ok and was the son of the late, William Sappington and Chloris Mullennax Sappington. He was a member of Grace Place. He was a Vietnam veteran and was retired from the U.S. Army. LeVoy was awarded the Bronze Star and the Silver Star. The Silver Star is our nation’s highest award for bravery in combat given by the United States military. The Silver Star honors service personnel who display exceptional valor while engaged in military combat operations against an enemy force. Levoy was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed racing and line dancing. LaVoy was preceded in death by his son, Albert Sappington, Jr. and his sister, Leona.

He is survived by:

Brothers – Larry (Susan) Sappington and Alan (Ellen) Sappington

Kinser, Dottie Lou Peoples, age 70, of Hermitage, TN died January 12, 2022. Dottie was born in Wellston, OH and was the daughter of the late Herb Peoples and Gladis Dickerson Peoples. She was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a retired nurse. Dottie enjoyed crocheting, crafting and working puzzles. She was an avid reader and enjoyed James Patterson novels. Dottie was preceded in death by her sister, Martha Corbin.

Thompson, Margaret Davy, age 93, of Mt. Juliet, TN died January 11, 2022. Margaret was born in Hendersonville, TN and was the daughter of the late, Thomas Davy and Minnie Gray Davy. She graduated from Hendersonville High School. Margaret was the salutatorian of her class and played four years of basketball and loved every minute of it. She was an avid fan of Tennessee sports. Margaret was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Community. She was employed as an accounting supervisor at Castners for 24 years. After retirement, she volunteered at Summit Medical Center for 13 years and was a Flying Ace at BNA airport for 6 years. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Eugene Thompson; daughter, Debbie Holland; grandson, Davy Thompson and 7 siblings.

She is survived by:

Son-in-law – Barry Holland

She was a graduate of Central High School and a member of the “Chicks of 46”. Polly was a lifetime member of Donelson Heights United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Victor “Herb” Pickle and brothers, Ewing Harper, Jr., Robert Harper and James Harper.

Weist, Judy Ann, age 82, of Mt. Juliet, TN died January 8, 2022. Judy attended Victory Baptist Church. She was retired from the Wilson County School System where she served in many capacities including as a bus driver, a dispatcher and in the cafeteria. Judy did volunteer work for many veterans organization including the Vietnam Veterans and the American Legion. She was a lifetime member of the Associates of Vietnam Veterans of America, Inc. Judy was also a member of the Knit and Pearl Girls, a group of women that knitted hats, scarfs, etc. and distributed them throughout the community. She was preceded in death by her father, Merlin Beck; sister, Sally Ann Thompson and grandson, Corey.

She is survived by:

Husband of 62 years – Harold Weist

Mother – Evelyn Langstaff

Smith, Milton Orin, was born on December 9, 1939. He died peacefully at AHC Mt. Juliet Nursing Home on January 13, 2022.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Gillon Orin Smith and Madelon Wright Smith. Milton was active in school activities and gifted in many ways. He played the piano; he won many awards for his artistic abilities; he played the saxophone in the Pep Band at DuPont High School; and he was chosen for the high school basketball team (but gave that up for the Pep Band); and he was also a good golfer. He graduated as Salutatorian of his class of 1957. Milton graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1962 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Milton was a giving person. He gave graciously to everyone who was in need and did without needs of his own. He was a Christian and went to church as often as he could. He loved his family and always prayed for them and others when he was aware of a need. Milton is a believer in Jesus Christ and is now with him in Heaven. Praise be to God!

Johnson, Robert Neil “Bob”, age 69, of Mt. Juliet, TN died January 24, 2022 after a brief battle with cancer. Mr. Johnson was a member of Cook’s United Methodist Church. He worked with several missions of the church including Compassionate Hands and SALT (serving at the Lord’s table). He was the son of the late, Willard Earl and Frances Tant Johnson. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Ray Johnson.

He is survived by:

Wife of 51 years – Bonnie Mabry Johnson of Mt. Juliet, TN

Daughters – Angie (William) Burgess and Karen M. McCarthy both of Mt. Juliet, TN

Brother – Ronald Earl (Kathy) Johnson of Kingston Springs, TN

Kelley was a dedicated “Dance Mom” and “Football Mom”. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Vaughn Vantrease and her grandmothers, Blanche Bradshaw Vantrease and Juanita (Clyde Terry) Harel.

She was a member of St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church. Helen enjoyed playing cards with her Saddlebrook friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Schulz; son, Anthony Schulz and two brothers.
