Jenkins, Jr. Rex H. age 84, of Murfreesboro, TN, died June 5, 2024.  Rex was born in Jackson County to the late, Rex and Zelma Jenkins. Rex was a graduate of West End High School, Class of 1958. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy where served for 6 years aboard the USS Porterfield. He was a longtime member of the Bellevue United Methodist Church but in his later years he enjoyed attending the Cowboy Church. Rex worked for 25 years as a property assessor for the Tennessee Department of Transportation and he served 3 years as President of the International Right of Way Association.  He was a member of the Jaycees.  In his spare time, Rex enjoyed listening to country music. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Juneita “Judy” Bond Jenkins, and his sisters, Wilda Marie Hnott and Billie Jean Kelton.

He is survived by:

Sister – Shirley (Robert) Cantrell

Nieces – Pat (David) Richardson and Susie (David) Kummer

Nephew – Roger (Susan) Kelton

Several great nieces and nephews

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2024 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Dr. Ernest Standerfer officiating. Entombment will follow with military honors in the Woodlawn Memorial Park Cross Mausoleum. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Bond Memorial Chapel. Pallbearers will be David Richardson, Robert Cantrell, Lance Cantrell, Trenton Cantrell, David Kummer, and Cobi Bryan.

Sanslow, Elizabeth “Betty”, age 92, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died June 10, 2024.  Betty was born on August 11, 1931, in Barbourville, KY and was the daughter of the late, Gus and Mary Hauser. She was a member of the Bearden United Methodist Church in Knoxville, TN for more than 65 years.  Betty was an avid swimmer, participating in the senior Swimming Olympics and holding a record for the most miles swam at Fort Sanders Fitness Center. Betty spent many years doing volunteer work at Cancer Support Community of East Tennessee, Thompson Cancer Survival Center, and Covenant Hospice. She was preceded in death by her Husband James Sanslow and 3 sisters and 4 brothers.

 

She is survived by:

Daughters – Terri (Bob) Yarbrough and Kristi (Norm) Porter

Grandchildren – Dara (Chris) McCormick and Rob (Bekki) Yarbrough

Great-grandchildren – C.J. McCormick, Robin and Katie Yarbrough

 

Funeral services to be held in Knoxville and announced at a later date.

 

Memorials may be contributed to the Hauser Sanslow Scholarship, Union College, Barbourville, Kentucky.

Vaughn, Lois Jean, age 77, of Lebanon, TN, died June 16, 2024. Lois was born on February 11, 1947, in Nashville, TN and was the daughter of the late James and Laura Teaster.  She is also preceded in death by her brother, James Teaster. Lois was a devoted Christian who cherished her faith and loved the Lord. She was known for her unwavering kindness and generosity towards others, always offering a helping hand to those in need. Apart from her faith, Lois had a passion for Elvis Presley, whose music brought her immense joy throughout her life.

She is survived by:

Daughter – Sherry Maddin

Sisters – Carolyn (Charlie) Kimble and Nancy Tatum

Friend – Vester Bradshaw, Sr.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Bond Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Leeville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tony Bradshaw, Rusty Bradshaw, Vester Bradshaw, Jr., Charlie Kimble, Steve Byars, and Justin Maddin.

Yates, Theresa Nona Renay Pomeroy, age 45, of Hermitage, TN, died June 25, 2024 at Alive Hospice. Theresa was born in Whites Creek, TN on May 19, 1979 to the late, Charlene “Nana” and Ronald “Poppy” Pomeroy of Greenbrier, TN. She was a hard worker and loved to travel. Theresa loved pizza and anything Italian, but most of all she loved taking care of her family, especially, her grandchildren.
She is survived by:

Brother – Kris Pomeroy of Greenbrier, TN
Sister – Nichole Mary Hawkins
Grandchildren – Aliyah Rose Rook and Zayden King Yates Rooks

Thompson, Jr., Robert Harrison “Bob”, age 74, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died at home on Monday, on June 24, 2024. Bob was born in Winchester, KY and was the son of the late Robert Harrison Thompson, Sr. and Marilla Reece Coy Thompson. He graduated in 1972 from Florida Tech and worked as a Chief Estimator for several construction companies building mainly hospitals. Bob was a wonderful Christian man who came to know the Lord at the age of 32. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Juliet. He led the boys Royal Ambassadors class, taught a men’s Sunday School class for many years, served as a Deacon and was very active in Promise Keepers. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Becky Davidson; brother, Paul Thompson and grandparents, Clell E. Thompson and Allie Mae Williams Thompson, Vernon M Coy and Laura Lawson Coy.

He is survived by:

Wife of 52 years – Linda Thompson

Son – Robert Thompson, III

Son-in-law – Brad (Sarah) Davidson

Grandchildren – Grace, Tristan, Laurel, Samuel, Abby, Ben and Rachel Jo

Goodrich, Herbert Marshall, age 94, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died June 30, 2024.  Herbert was born on November 9, 1929, in Wakefield, Virginia and was the son of the late John and Mabel Goodrich. He was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, 6 sisters, and 4 stepsiblings. Herbert was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and he served as a deacon for many years at First Baptist Church Mt. Juliet. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling, square dancing with friends, and farming and gardening.

 

He is survived by:

Wife of 70 years – Yvonne Goodrich

Daughter – Becky Trainer

Son- Barry Goodrich

Grandchildren – Traci Goodrich, Stacey Gary, and Derek (Bethany) Trainer

Garrison, Jimmy, age 87, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died June 25, 2024.  Jimmy was born in Sykes, TN to the late, James Ray and Bertha Garrison. He worked for 24 years as a draftsman for EMPE, Inc.      Jimmy served his country proudly and retired from the Air National Guard. He was a member of Providence Church in Mt. Juliet, TN and will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him. 

 

He is survived by:

Wife – Pamela Garrison

Brother- Michael Garrison

Sister- Nancy (Mike) Short

Niece- Vanessa Weedman
