Wilda Paul Houston

Long, Wilda Paul Houston , age 84, of Mt. Juliet, TN died September 29, 2022. Wilda was born in Blakely, GA and was the daughter of the late, Julius Houston and Jenny Maloy Houston. She earned her Master’s degree in Education and was a teacher for more than 25 years in Volusia County, FL. Wilda received numerous awards during her teaching career. She was also an accomplished singer and loved playing the piano. Wilda and Chester served various churches over their lifetime as directors for children, young adults and senior adult choirs. Wilda was a member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Juliet. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and reading. Wilda was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Long.

She is survived by:

Son – Charles (Suzanne) Long

Daughter – Rhetta (Scott) Standifer

Sisters – Freida (B.A.) Andreu, Julia Back, Dianne (Bob) Ghames and

Jenny (Wayne) Kemp

Grandchildren – Michael Standifer, Olivia Long and Ryan Long

Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, October 3, 2022 at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens with Don Dillingham officiating.
