Baker, Vera Ann Blackstone , age 85, of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, died February 11, 2023. Vera was born in Augusta, Georgia, and was the daughter of the late, Freddie Lee and Goldie Mae Blackstone. She was baptized on December 25, 1971, as an active member of the Mt. Juliet Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, where she devoted much time to sharing God’s message in the door-to-door ministry. She was a true wordsmith, writing many songs, poems, and letters throughout her life. She loved crocheting, crafting, and home decorating. She was preceded in death by her son, Alan Mitchell; grandson, Justin Mitchell; and brothers, Edward (Gene) Blackstone and Donald Blackstone.
She is survived by:
Husband of 64 years – Bill Baker
Children – Dana (Sharon) Mitchell, Gina Baker and Tami Baker (Sean) Duggan
Brother – Virgil (Sandra Kay) Blackstone
Grandchildren – Jonathan (Jennifer) Mitchell, Ryan Mitchell, Alan (Brooke) Mitchell, Avery Green and Sydney Green
Great-grandchildren – Dustin (Savannah) Mitchell, Christopher (Laquinea) Mitchell, and McKenna Mitchell
Great-great-grandchildren – Kennedy Mitchell and Stevie Mitchell
And innumerable nieces and nephews
A memorial service will be conducted at the Mt. Juliet Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1006 Woodridge Place, Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, and on Zoom (contact family members for more information) on February 26, 2023, at 4:00 pm. Slide presentation will begin at 3:45 pm.
