Ruth Barbara Schulert

Schulert, Ruth Barbara , age 93 of Mt. Juliet, TN, died January 21, 2021. Mrs. Schulert was a native of Perry, MI and the daughter of the late, Walter Darling and Jenny Hill Darling. She graduated from Perry High School in 1944 and Bob Jones University in 1948. Mrs. Schulert spent the first 25 years of her adult life as a homemaker raising her children, including 5 years in Cairo, Egypt, where her husband did medical research. She spent the next 2 decades as an elementary school teacher at Donelson Christian Academy and Mt Juliet Christian School. Mrs. Schulert's life was marked by loving service to others. After retirement, she taught for a year at the Inn Ministries in Guatemala. This was followed by 3 other long-term mission trips. She volunteered weekly at the Mt Juliet Help Center and tutored remedial math and reading well into her 80's. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Arthur Schulert; son, Timothy Schulert; brothers, Victor, Robert, Thomas and Donald Darling; son-in-law, Timothy Huckabay and daughter-in-law, Cynthia Schulert.d not

She is survived by:

Children – Barbara Huckabay, Mark Schulert, Jean (Ed) Coley, Philip Schulert,

Andrew (Joy) Schulert and Peter (Susan) Schulert

Daughter-in-law – Laurie Schulert

17 Grandchildren and 1 Great-grandchild

Visitation with the family will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Bond Memorial Chapel. For those who plan to attend, please wear a mask and practice social distancing. Graveside services will be private. A Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ruth Schulert Scholarship Fund.
