Oaks, Roy James , age 64, of Mt. Juliet, TN passed away on July 5, 2023 from post operation complications during a battle with cancer. Even though these circumstances took him away from this world, his loving heart and sharp mind left a beacon of light for all who were close to him. James is survived by the love of his life, his wife Sandy.  He was a proud Dad to one daughter, Amanda.  His frank but kind demeanor will be missed by his family and colleagues at Medxcel and St. Thomas Hospital. James was born in Knoxville, TN and was the son of the late, R.G. Oaks and Shirley Jean McBee Oaks. He attended Hermitage Hills Baptist Church. James was an employee of Lawler Wood for nearly 40 years and was later employed by Medxcel. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Oaks.

He is survived by:

Wife of 42 years – Sandy Oaks

Daughter – Amanda (Michael) Davis

Grandchildren – Blessing Davis, Esperanza Davis, Abram Davis, Lenore Davis and

Mikalyn Davis

Brother-in-laws – Michael (Robin) Forester, Tony (Lisa) Forester and

Pete (Alisha Dugger) Forester

Sister-n-law – Sharon (John) Oglesby

Several nieces and nephews

Visitation will be conducted at 10 a.m. with funeral services to follow at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Dick Buchanan officiating. Entombment will follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.

The family requests that memorial tributes be made in the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society for research or a GoFundMe for James’ youngest granddaughter Mikalyn who has autism and epilepsy to support her on-going medical and educational needs.
