Robert Lee Raines

Raines, Robert Lee , age 85, of Mt. Juliet, TN died January 7, 2023. Robert was born September 27, 1937 in Fayetteville, NC and was the son of the late Brooks Hampton Raines and Media McCall Raines. He grew up in Red Springs, NC and was a 1955 graduate of Red Springs High School. Robert was a retired Chief Master Sergeant, U.S. Air Force. He served in Greenland, Vietnam, Thailand and Germany during his 26 year career. Robert later retired from the Horry County, SC Assessor’s office and the Tennessee Department of Transportation. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Hampton Wade.

He is survived by:

Wife of 64 years – Sarah Hutcherson Raines

Children – Lisa R. Wade of Fountain Inn, SC and Larry S. (Kim) Raines of Cumming, GA

Sister – Connie (Judy) Thornburg of Asheboro, NC

Grandchildren – Becky, Mackenzie and Victoria

Funeral services will be conducted 6 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Dr. Phillip Dunn officiating. Interment will be at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or Samaritan’s Purse.
