Nancy T. Owen

Nancy Lee Thomas Owen, age 95 of Mt. Juliet, went home to be with her Lord on August 4, 2025. Nancy was born in Louisville, Kentucky to the late John and Mary Thomas. She was a member of St. George’s Episcopal Church. Her strong faith in God was reflected throughout her life. She was grateful for her many blessings and leaned on Christ through the sorrows. Nancy had a deep love and commitment to her family and friends.

She will be missed by her children, grandchildren and their spouses, great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Nancy was also preceded in death by her husband, John Elias Owen, son, Kevin Anthony Owen, son-in-law, Lloyd Andrew Short, brothers, Anthony “Tony” Thomas, Louis “Louie” Thomas, and Nicholas Thomas, and sisters, Carrie George, Henrietta Thomas, Sue Gabriel, Martha Asseff, and Emerald “Emmie” Coleman.

She is survived by:

Children – John E. “Jay” (Mary) Owen, Jr., Darlene Short, and Donna Owen Bailey.

Grandchildren – Evan (Yahira), Allison (Kyle), Greg (Megan), Russell (Sondra), Joshua (Caitlin), Kayla (Blake), Lauren (Carter), Thomas, and Andrea.

Great Grandchildren – Owen, Ada, Makayla, Kennedy, Caroline, Logan, Talia, Oliver, Noemi, August, John “Johnny”, Henry, Charles “Charlie”, and Luke.

The family would like to say a special thank you to her loving caregiver, Heidi Soloman. We are grateful for the way Heidi brought wonderful care, laughter, and love into Nancy’s life.

There will be a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 9,2025 at St. George’s Episcopal Church, 4715 Harding Pike Nashville, TN 37205, conducted by Father Jason Terhune. Interment will be in Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, KY at a later date.
