Marian Louise Thompson

Marian Louise Thompson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on May 8, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of Dr. Attilio Navazio and Flora (Obst) Navazio. Marian spent her formative years in Morristown, New Jersey, where she graduated from Morristown High School in 1961. She then attended the University of Maryland to further her education.

Marian married Joe Thompson (her beloved “My Joe”) on June 27, 1964, and together they built a life filled with love, happiness, and three children. She loved the LORD with all her heart, and her life was a testament to grace, resilience, and devotion. She also embraced her Jewish heritage by making several trips to Israel to celebrate the High Holy Days of the LORD. During their retirement years, she and Joe enjoyed several travel adventures throughout the U.S. and Israel. She and Joe also loved being close to the ocean, spending many winters in Florida.

As a mother and grandmother, Marian was the steady heart of her family, pouring her love into them. Her warmth, gentle kindness, and enduring strength left a mark on everyone that knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents, Attilio and Flora Navazio, her sister Donna Cryan, her brother Robert Navazio, and her grandson Joseph Matthias Thompson. She is survived by her devoted husband, Joe Thompson, and their children: Andrew Thompson (Laura), Holly Sellers (Ben), and Daniel Thompson (Rebecca). Her legacy will live on through her grandchildren Eli Sellers, Rachel Sellers, Annabelle Turner, and Patrick Greene, as well as her great-grandchild, Archer Turner.

A memorial service in honor of Marian will be held at Del Webb, Lake Providence, Mt Juliet, TN at 1pm on Oct 16, 2026. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Vanderbilt Medical Center’s Huntington's Disease Clinic, to support future research on Huntington’s disease.
