In Loving Memory of Lonza Kirk
Lonza Kirk, age 94, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026.
Born on July 8, 1932, in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, Lonza lived a life marked by faith and filled with love, creativity, and devotion to her family and friends. She found joy in life’s simple treasures and was known for her warm heart, gentle spirit, and kind nature.
Lonza had a passion for crafts, loved tending to and admiring flowers, enjoyed spending time in nature, and especially cherished singing and playing her guitar with friends. Her music and laughter brought happiness to those around her, and the memories she created with family and loved ones will be treasured forever.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl Kirk; her daughter, Diane Hale; her parents, Bessie and Claude Laird; her sister, Lucille Bishop; and her brother, Claude Laird, Jr.
Lonza is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Jann Richards and Kellye Wheaton; her five grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren, along with many extended family members and close friends.
Lonza’s love for the Lord and her family was the foundation of her life. Her kindness, strength, and gentle presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy of faith, love, music, and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of those she cherished for generations to come.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor to the Nashville Rescue Mission.
A celebration of life in honor of Lonza will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Bond Memorial Chapel, officiated by Bro. Tony Langton. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service, starting at 10 a.m. A burial will also take place at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Harpeth Hills Memorial Gardens located at 9090 TN-100, Nashville, TN 37221.
