Lonnie "Dunk" James Hunter

Lonnie "Dunk" James Hunter, age 84, was born on July 9, 1941, in Mt. Juliet, TN, and passed away on March 29, 2026, in LaVergne, TN. He was a member of Rock Springs Church of Christ. Dunk will be missed by all who knew him.

Dunk was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Hunter; his parents, John and Isla Hunter; his brothers, J.C. Hunter Jr., Norman Lee Hunter, and his sisters, Helen Leonard, Kate McDaniel, Jean Pope, and Brenda Gleaves.

Dunk is survived by:

Sons - Mike (Lynn) Hunter & Richard (Roby) Hunter

Grandchildren - Christopher (Brittney) Hunter, Shanti (Tyler) Krug, and Meagan Jackson

Great-Grandchildren - Jaden Jackson, Will Krug, and Callie Krug

A funeral service for Dunk will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Bond Memorial Chapel, officiated by Tyler Krug, with interment to follow at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Ken Flemming, Doug Merritt, Glenn Dodd, Tommy Colyar, Rick Smith, and Jeff Cowell.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., with the service to follow at 12:00 p.m.
