Linda Ann Mccorkle Eakes

Eakes, Linda Ann McCorkle , died Thursday, November 28, 2024. Linda was a lifelong resident of Mt. Juliet, TN and was the daughter of the late, James Humphrey McCorkle and Mildred Smith McCorkle. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church. Linda was a 1955 graduate of Mt. Juliet High School, where she was a member of the Beta Club and Homecoming Queen. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1987 from Cumberland University, where she earned the Alice Hegan Rice Award and an Award in English. Linda taught English at Lebanon High School for many years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing, quilting, flower gardening, antiques and traveling. In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Donnie Eakes.

Linda is survived by:

Children – Mark (Robin) Eakes, Greg Eakes and Melinda (Kenneth) Mace

Brother – Charles Lee McCorkle

5 Grandchildren, 4 Great-grandchildren and 1 Great-great granddaughter

Granddog – Harley

Caregiver/Sitter – Julia Hamblen

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Rev. Chuck Groover officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be John Robert Eakes, Nathan Ferrell, Justin Ferrell, Erick Brockman, Landis Sanders and Clayton House.

Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to your local library or the animal shelter of your choice.
