Larry Lee Sheppard

Larry Lee Sheppard, Jr., age 75, of Mt. Juliet, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026. He was born on December 8, 1950 to Larry Sheppard, Sr. and Willie Jean Dennis Sheppard. Larry graduated from Hume Fogg High School in 1970 and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy Reserves serving from 1970-1972 while stationed in Pensacola, FL. He returned to Nashville and worked at Sunbeam Bakery in the early 1970's. He loved cars and racing and spent many hours at the Nashville Speedway. 

He then moved to West Palm Beach and Hobe Sound, FL working in construction and for Sea Coast Utilities (25 years) and U.S. Sugar (5 years) as a Water Treatment Plant Operator. While in Florida, he became a certified scuba diver and enjoyed many dive trips along the treasure coast with friends. 

When he moved back to Tennessee, he reconnected with his high school sweetheart. He loved the 10 years he and Diane spent enjoying traveling, grilling, and all things retirement. He will be remembered for his quiet spirit and his kindness. 

Larry is survived by: 

His loving companion - Diane Bates Bennett 

Children - Son, Jason Ryan (Rachael) Sheppard of Alford, FL, a daughter, and their mother. 

Sister - Melissa Ann Sheppard Allerdice 

Granddaughters - Alexandria Renee Sheppard and Anastasia Nicole Sheppard 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry Lee Sheppard Sr. and Willie Jean Dennis Sheppard. 

Larry will be cremated and, at a later date, will be interred in the family cemetery.
