June Steffey, age 92, of Mt. Juliet, passed away on October 9, 2025. She was born on July 7,1933, in Franklin, Tennessee, to the late Scott and Lela Maude Gifford. On September 4, 1949, in an ice cream shop where she worked, June met Hugh “Art” Steffey, an Army soldier who was stationed at Fort Campbell at the time. They were married just over a month later on October 9, 1949. Due to military life, they moved multiple times through the years. In 1954, June and Art welcomed their first child, Terri, followed by their daughter Gayle who was born in 1960. In 1968, after Art retired from the military, he and June purchased their first home in Hermitage, Tennessee, which they both resided in until the time of their passing. June was a Christian lady and was a member of Center Chapel Church of Christ. She was very active in her church, taught Sunday school for many years, and raised her children in a Christian home. June enjoyed traveling, knitting, and reading and she was an active member of the Mt. Juliet Senior Center. Above all, she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hugh “Art” Steffey, daughter, Terri P. Rychen, brothers, Whit Gifford, Roy E. Gifford, and Clarence Gifford, and sister, Pearl Boyd.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday October 14, 2025, at Bond Memorial Chapel with Dwight Spurlock officiating. Interment will follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Churches of Christ Disaster Relief, P.O.
