Listen to Obituary

James Edward Wolfe was born in Nashville, TN, on December 22, 1937. He was born to Johnnie Casper and Ruby Dean Wolfe.

James was married to Jean (Barnes) Wolfe for 66 years. Since 1967, he lived in Antioch, TN. His main occupation was as a telephone repair technician for Western Electric, where he made many lifelong friends. Jean was from a very large family and James considered the Barnes family his very own. He loved spending time at a very special place called Bull Run Road with the family. Many years of family gatherings were held there and he loved the outdoors. He spent a lot of time hunting and being in nature. He was an expert marksman and firearm expert. He had a love for motorcycles and had many through the years. James was also a great musician with a beautiful voice. During his high school years, he was a member of a singing trio called the 3 Tones. He appeared on the Arthur Godfrey Show where the group gained much recognition. He was a prolific songwriter and could really turn a phrase. Although he chose not to pursue music as a career, his songs gained much attention in Nashville. James was a deep thinker about some of life's biggest issues. He loved a good political debate and even wrote many letters to newspapers and other news outlets as a counterpoint to popular opinions.

Most importantly, he loved his family. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his greatest source of pride. He will be missed more than can be expressed but we are grateful for his life here and the legacy that he left.

James was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Ruby Wolfe, and a brother, Billy Wolfe. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jean Wolfe; Son, Mark (Tammy) Wolfe; Grandchildren, Melissa (Ray) Roach, Luke (Lenai Brady) Wolfe, and Katelyn Wolfe; Great Grandchildren, Elijah Wolfe, Ray Roach, Lily Roach, Waylon Wolfe, Paul Wolfe, and Henry Wolfe.
