James Myatt Iii

June 18, 2025 — March 16, 2023

Myatt III, James “Jimmy” , age 80, of Mt. Juliet, TN died March 16, 2023.  Born in Charleston, SC to the late, James Myatt II and Tina Melfi Myatt, Jimmy left his hometown at 17, joining the United States Army with the ambition to see the world.  Stationed with the 101st Airborne at Fort Campbell, KY, he was a paratrooper and cook. There, he met his wife of 60 years, Barbara, while on leave venturing to Nashville. Once married and having fulfilled his time with the 101st, Jimmy became a commercial master plumber, working primarily in Nashville. He followed the sport of boxing and was a competition weightlifter along with being a black belt in Karate. Once retired, Jimmy loved tinkering with small engines, finding great satisfaction in bringing discarded items back to life. He was always helping others with repairs and projects, asking nothing in return. He was a kind-hearted individual who loved his family and especially visits with his five grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, Leann Myatt, and brother, Harry Myatt.
