James William "Jim" Crittenden, born in Nashville and a resident of Mt. Juliet, passed away on March 14, 2026. Born on November 5, 1943, Jim lived a full life marked by dedication to his country, career, and family.
Jim served proudly in the U.S. Navy from May 1964 until April 1968. His time in the military was an important chapter in his life and a reflection of his commitment and service. After completing his service, he worked at Cash Register Sales Company for 31 years. His career spanned over three decades until he retired due to medical issues.
Jim was a man of many interests. He had a passion for woodworking and was an avid collector, especially when it came to his special collection of Case knives. Jim loved watching games on TV, particularly cheering for the Vols, showing his support with great enthusiasm. He also had a sweet tooth, a small joy that brought him delight. Perhaps most of all, Jim loved to tell a good story, sharing moments and memories with those around him. Last but not least, Jim truly adored his family who were central to his life.
He is survived by:
Wife - Sara B. Crittenden, his wife of 54 years
Children - Mary Crittenden Mansfield (Mark Lucas) and James William “Bill” Crittenden, II (Nichole Curtiss), carry on his legacy.
Brother - Donald Crittenden (Ann).
Grandchildren - Catherine Galindo-Lobo, Hannah (Jace) Routly, Emily Mansfield, and Nathan Lucas.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Agnes and Ernest Crittenden, and his brothers Ernest Ewen Crittenden, Jr., and David Alan Crittenden.
James William Crittenden’s life was one of service, hard work, and love. His friends and family will remember his kindness, his stories, and his gentle spirit. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
