Hermene Eakes

Eakes, Hermene , age 93, of Mt. Juliet, TN died February 6, 2023. Hermene was born in Wilson County, TN and was the daughter of the late, Bedford W. Eakes and Karleen Lester Eakes. She was raised on a Grade A Dairy Farm on Central Pike. Hermene was a member of Center Chapel Church of Christ. She was a 1947 graduate of Mt. Juliet High School.  Hermene was elected Miss Mt. Juliet High and Miss FFA Queen and  was also co-captain of the basketball team. She enjoyed square dancing, flower gardening, attending her class reunions and cooking for her large family; which always included her delicious cornbread and peach cobbler. She was preceded in death by her sons, Terry Peek (infant), Tony Peek and Tommy Peek.

She is survived by:

Children – Tena Allison, Tammy (Larry) Pratt and Timmy (Joyce) Peek

15 Grandchildren; 15 Great-grandchildren and 3 Great-great grandchildren

Graveside services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Tim Peek, Scott Peek, BW Allison, Peyton Pratt, Cason Pratt, and Larry Pratt.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
