Thomas III, George Lee , age 80, of Mt. Juliet, TN, passed away on March 22, 2024. Born in Burlington, North Carolina, he was the son of the late George and Isabel Thomas. George graduated from Castle Heights Military Academy in 1961 and worked at DuPont for 15 years before founding George Thomas Realty in 1982. He served as a member and Past President of the Eastern Middle Tennessee Association of Realtors and was affiliated with the National Association of Realtors. He also contributed to the Wilson Bank and Trust advisory board and was a member of Christ Church in Nashville. George had a passion for 1960s Doo-wop music, enjoyed playing Bingo, and was the Bingo caller at family gatherings. He loved baseball and softball, never missing his grandchildren’s games and coaching in the Mt. Juliet Little League for over 35 years. A devoted Atlanta Braves fan, George's love for sports was evident. George was instrumental in land development and numerous subdivision throughout Wilson County. He was preceded in death by his son, George Lee Thomas IV. George is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dora Thomas, daughters Jeannie Thomas and Wendy (Stant) Eakes, grandchildren Adam Thomas, Joe Thomas, Dillon Eakes, and Katie Eakes, sister Becky Thomas, his beloved cats Blackie and Whitie, and his dog Lester. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Bond Memorial Chapel, with Chuck Groover officiating. Visitation hours are scheduled for 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26th, and 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Bond Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers include Jim Agee, Doug Gold, Cody Moore, Charles “Popcorn” Thompson, David Halliburton, and Larry Hammann, with board members of Wilson Bank and Trust, Castle Heights Military Academy alumni, and Todd Bennett serving as Honorary Pallbearers.
