Listen to Obituary

Dolores Mae Young, age 95, of Mt Juliet TN, formerly of Genoa IL, passed away on June 17, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Dolores was born February 9,1931 to Paul and Etta (Huber) Swanson. She graduated from Genoa High School in 1949.

Dolores married Dale Young on Dec 18,1954 and they settled in Genoa where they raised their three children.

Dolores worked at Tuttle Electrical Products in Kirkland, IL for a few years but settled in at GTE in Genoa, IL where she retired after 28 years. After retirement, she and Dale moved to Arizona and there she picked up the game of golf but still loved crafting, cooking, baking and traveling with her husband. Holidays were one of her favorites; she loved baking treats to share, decorating the inside of her home with all her decorations and especially spending the time with family. She loved Precious Moments figurines and had a very large collection which she acquired over the years. She enjoyed visiting the Precious Moments Chapel in Carthage, MO and always left with one or two more figurines.

We remember our mother as the kindest person in the world, whose love knew no limits and her heart was open to everyone she met. She gave endlessly, always putting her family first, long before thinking of herself.

Her gentle spirit, caring hands, and unwavering love shaped our lives in countless ways. She was not only a mother, but an example of love in every sense of the word. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished in our hearts. Her love remains with us always, and her memory will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.

Dolores was preceded in death by her husband Dale, her parents, brothers, Paul and Floyd “Red”.

Dolores is survived by, their children; Linda (Dave) Waite, Rex (Angela) and Gloria (Jeff) Surratt, grandchildren; Garret (Jamie) Jones, Zachary (Lauren) Waite, Andrew Young, Kristin (Ryan) Bradley, Jacque (Nikki) Waite, Chelsea Grandt, Malorie (Cody) Collins, Alyssa Jones, and great grandchildren; Chloe, Logan, Carter, Piper and several nieces and nephews.

No formal services will be held at this time. Dolores’ ashes along with those of her husband will be spread in the Arizona mountains at a future date.
