Danny Lester Eakes “Spade,” age 72, of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, passed away on March 9, 2026. Danny was born on March 31, 1953.

Danny was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karen Eakes, and his parents, Robbie Joyce Williams and James Lester Eakes.

He is survived by his brother, Stant (Wendy) Eakes, and his sister, Cynthia Everette. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews: Taz Everette (Larissa Thompson), Tori (Will) Hunter, Dillon Eakes, and Katie Eakes, along with many great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins who will cherish his memory. He was also lovingly cared for by his devoted caretaker, Bonnie Bowman.

Danny first worked at the Ford Glass Plant before going on to spend many years with Wilbrow International and the Carrier Distribution Center. During his time with Wilbrow International, he also worked overseas on international pipelines. Danny was known as a hardworking man who enjoyed the simple things in life. In his free time, he loved fishing and spending his days watching NASCAR races. He was also an avid animal lover and had a special place in his heart for his childhood horse, Kentuck. Danny also enjoyed working as a truck gardener, growing and selling produce at local markets.

Danny will be remembered for his presence, his stories, and the time he spent with those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services for Danny will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Bond Memorial Chapel, conducted by Danny Tomlinson. Internment will follow at Mt. Juliet memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Johnny Griffin, Don Willoughby, Luke Williams, Will Hunter, Barry Graves, and Dillon Eakes. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Gleaves and Paul Gentry. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Bond Memorial Chapel.
