Listen to Obituary

David Christopher “Chris” Wood, 50, passed away on December 17 in Nashville, Tennessee. He leaves behind his sister STACY WOOD SANKO (BRAD), He is also survived by his niece, Annie Sanko, and his nephew, Jonah Sanko of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. Also, many aunts, uncles, and cousins from the West Tennessee area. He is preceded in death by his parents, David and Shelia Wood, and his grandparents, Carl and Frances Hammond, and Daisie and William T Wood, and his beloved dog, SISSY.

Chris could not be associated with only one discipline or one passion. He was an incredible woodworker, turning his signature wooden bowls, and making various pieces of furniture from carefully planned out designs and diagrams from his own imagination. He even made a working Dulcimer completely by hand. Chris made so many things. From homemade cologne named POLY VU SUA, to robots, computer programs and candles. He loved astronomy and using his telescopes. He was very interested in geology from a very young age, collecting rocks and minerals all his life. Chris was also an avid juggler. He liked to juggle circle discs, bowling pins, and knives. His neighbors recently commented that Chris could be found tinkering on something all the time. He graduated in 1999 with a degree in physics from MTSU. He then went to California and briefly designed lasers.

The one constant in his life was music. He loved writing music, playing many musical instruments, and performing with his Nashville band, STATELINER. He loved to collect albums of his favorite artists and read their bios. Chris loved to read. He had many books on many many many subjects, everything from math to music, to tinkering in general. Chris loved every person and animal he ever met. He was a kind-hearted soul. He loved his family very much. He loves sharing his wisdom and terrible jokes to his niece and nephew, Annie and Jonah, as well as all of his friends.
