Jonathan Reinie Blumhardt, 47, of Mount Juliet, Tennessee, passed into the presence of the Lord on December 18, 2024, after a long illness. Jon was born on April 29, 1977, in Omaha, Nebraska. He graduated from Washington High School in South Bend, Indiana. He earned an associate degree from Holy Cross College (an adjunct of Notre Dame University) and a Bachelor of Computer Science degree from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Jon lived most of his youth in South Bend, Indiana, and returned there after college for another 22 years before relocating to Tennessee. He worked as a security administrator in the IT department at Memorial Hospital in South Bend for several years. Jon eventually received long-term disability due to the effects of the brain tumor condition he first experienced at age 21.

Jon was very athletic, including competitive intermural basketball, for several years after his first brain surgery. He also enjoyed an extensive network of friends and deep personal relationships. Jon had a passion for Notre Dame football. Most of his clothing contains a Notre Dame logo, and he has rarely missed a Notre Dame football game in the past 25-20 years.

Jon’s faith in Christ was demonstrated by the fact that he often read scripture and had read through the entire bible multiple times. He was featured in a 2005 newspaper article regarding his life and brain tumor condition, where he was quoted saying, “I deal with it [the brain tumor condition] in the sense that I just know where I’m going and what I’m doing in life and that I have a purpose. Whenever God’s time is, that’s when I’ll go!”

Jon is survived by his maternal grandparents, Larry and Barbara Fritcher; father, Douglas; step-mother, Marilyn; siblings, Andrew (Heather), Daniel (Rebecca), Jordan, Anna, and sister-in-law, Keesha (widow of his brother, Ben); son, Brandon (Abigail); grandchildren, Ezra and Rosie; nephews and nieces, Adam, Caleb, Jonathan, Joshua, Rachel, Ava, Naomi, Audrey, Isabelle, Madeline, and Skylar; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins (and their families). Jon is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Reinie and Alice Blumhardt; mother, Deborah; younger brother, Benjamin; and uncles, Curtis Blumhardt, Morris Blumhardt, and Brian Fritcher.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Bond Memorial Chapel, 1098 Weston Drive, Mt. Juliet, TN; (615) 773-2663, www.bondmemorial.com. The service will be live-streamed and available at https://www.facebook.com/BondMemorialChapel.

A period of visitation will be held from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm. After the memorial service, a guest reception will be held from 3:15 pm to 5:00 pm at Hermitage Hills Baptist Church located at 3475 Lebanon Pike, Hermitage, TN 37076

In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to or later sent to Bond Memorial Chapel; the Bond staff will redirect those funds to an educational trust fund that is being set up for Jon’s grandchildren (Ezra and Rosie).
