Kanatzar, Deborah Lee, age 71, of Mt. Juliet, TN died September 21, 2022. Deb was born in Bismarck, ND and was the daughter of the late, Vernon and LaVerne Palloch Carlson. She was a member of Providence United Methodist Church. Deb was formerly employed by Wynn’s Precision, Lebanon, Tennessee, as a large account manager servicing Caterpillar Tractor in Peoria, IL. In Tennessee, Deb was employed with two FBO management teams at the Lebanon airport, (M54), and the Dialysis Clinic’s flight department at the Smyrna airport; (MQY). She enjoyed spending time with her family on Center Hill Lake, Destin, FL. and a winter home in Naples, FL. Deb also previously served as a volunteer at Ronald McDonald House in Nashville.

Long, Wilda Paul Houston, age 84, of Mt. Juliet, TN died September 29, 2022. Wilda was born in Blakely, GA and was the daughter of the late, Julius Houston and Jenny Maloy Houston. She earned her Master’s degree in Education and was a teacher for more than 25 years in Volusia County, FL. Wilda received numerous awards during her teaching career. She was also an accomplished singer and loved playing the piano. Wilda and Chester served various churches over their lifetime as directors for children, young adults and senior adult choirs. Wilda was a member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Juliet. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and reading. Wilda was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Long.

She was a member of Victory Baptist Church. Doris and her husband were the owners of Trio Quality Eyewear and she formerly served as an administrative assistant in the corporate world. For much of her life, Daralene worked in management in the retail and restaurant industries. She was an artist and loved animals and traveling.

Dull, William Justin, age 32, of Nashville, TN died October 5, 2022.
Billy was born in Elyria, OH and relocated to Nashville when he was 9 years old. As a child he was a natural at many sports and earned his 3rd degree brown belt in karate. He graduated from Wilson Central High School in Mt. Juliet, TN. Billy enjoyed working on cars and his most recent passion was restoring his late model Chevy truck. He was a skilled electrical apprentice and excelled at his trade as he did with most anything that he enjoyed. Billy was always an animal lover and enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Cynthia Mitchell, Robert Jones, William Howard Dull II and Lillie May Dull along with his cousin Charles B. Coleman.

Randall, Judith Carol Shelton, age 82, of Nashville, TN died October 7, 2022. Judith was born in Sevierville, TN and was the daughter of the late, Robert Shelton and Mary Hayes Shelton. She lived most of her life in Western New York, but moved back to Tennessee in 1997. Judith had a passion for children. She also enjoyed camping, cooking and baking. Judith was preceded in death by her siblings, Lynn, Sue, Sandy and Bobby.

Yoder, Matthew Carlyle, age 55, of Mt. Juliet, TN died October 9, 2022. Matt was born in Toledo, OH where he attended Lincolnshire Elementary School and St. Francis de Sales High School. Matt graduated from Science Hill High School in Johnson City, TN. He attended East Tennessee State University and Tennessee State University where he studied Business Management. After moving to Nashville he worked as the kitchen manager of the Cooker Restaurant for several years. Matt also worked for Verizon Wireless as Customer Support Supervisor/Marketing Coordinator, and Johnson Controls as a Customer Service Operations Agent. He married Cathy in 1989, they have one son, Jake, 23, both were his pride and joy. Serving his wife Cathy and son Jake was Matt’s greatest joy in life. Matt rarely missed a year traveling to the beach, his favorite spot on earth, he also loved going to the mountains and traveling in general. He was a member of Grace Place Church where he served the mission field locally and in Honduras as well as serving as Usher and First Impressions Team. Matt had a servants heart and served in many other various positions as needed, he was a doer and a hard worker. Prior to that he attended and served at Old Hickory Nazarene for 20 years. Matt loved all sports and especially the University of Michigan. Go Blue!! At any point in a day you could find a TV on ESPN or some type of sports event. He loved attending Titans and Predators games when possible, especially with his son, Jake. He was preceded in death by his father, Jess Yoder; maternal grandparents, Lyle and Edna Schumacher and paternal grandparents, Webster and Mayola Yoder.

Knowles, Sr., Jerry Wayne, age 64, of Hendersonville, TN died October 10, 2022. Wayne was born in Nashville, TN and graduated from McGavock H.S. where he was a member of the track team. He was a diesel mechanic. Wayne was a history buff and especially enjoyed Civil War History. He also enjoyed fishing and watching Westerns. Watson, Irene B. Schmidt, age 93, of Hartselle, AL and formerly of Mt. Juliet, TN died October 9, 2022. Irene was born in Germany and was the daughter of the late, Eduard Schmidt and Ida Anna Wendel Schmidt. Irene is predeceased by her parents, her husband of 57 years Thurman Ewing Watson, and her son Thurman Edward “Eddie” Watson.
She is survived by brother Ulrich (Renate) Schmidt; her children, Ronald N. Watson (Barbara), Pierre M. Watson (Jenna), and Charles U. (Sandra) Watson; twenty grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Irene was a member of the United Methodist Church. She worked in multiple Civil Service, Corporate Administrative, and Customer Service roles. Following WWII, Irene and Thurman married in Germany and moved to the US where she became a US Citizen. She was proud of her German/American heritage.
Irene enjoyed domestic and international travel, living abroad on multiple occasions. Irene was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. While known for her honesty and toughness, she genuinely demonstrated kindness and care for everyone. Family was always most important.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at Bond Memorial Chapel in Mt. Juliet, TN with interment to follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.

Hampel, James Kenneth, age 73, of Old Hickory, Tennessee, died suddenly on October 17, 2022. Jim's passing has left a huge hole in the hearts of so many who knew and loved him. He has left behind a loving wife of almost 50 years, three children and seven grandsons that will fondly recall Grandpa. Jim was the only son of Kenneth and Delores Hampel of Webster Groves, Missouri, where he and his sister were born. He was a graduate of Vianney High School in St. Louis and the University of Missouri - Rolla, where he graduated as a Civil Engineer, while enlisted in ROTC followed by the Army Reserves where he left as Captain. During this time, he married Patti—his forever love—and moved to Florida to start his long, successful career in civil and environmental engineering. They moved to the Nashville area, where they raised their children making sure that they all graduated from UT. Jim's passions, besides his family, included: woodworking, remodeling, hunting and fishing, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, organic gardening, deck building, car repair, Father Ryan sports, UT football, collecting lots of “stuff,” grilling, pickling the fruits of his garden, relocating squirrels and giving advice.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents and son, Jeffrey Scott. He is survived by his wife, Patti; his son, Kevin (wife Sara and sons Ethan, Jack, Charlie, and Reid); son, Jonathan (wife Amanda and sons Rowland and Hank); daughter, Kristin (husband Andy Nelson and son Jeffrey); and his sister, Sue Colburn. In addition, he has left behind his many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.
Jim was a devoted Catholic throughout his life, a current member of St. Stephen Catholic Community and a life-long member of the Knights of Columbus, having served as the first Grand Knight of St. Stephen Council 9282.
A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, October 24, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Community. There will be a visitation from 9:30-11:00 a.m. with a luncheon immediately following the memorial mass.

Fletcher, Squall Tidus, age 47, of Mt. Juliet, TN died October 20, 2022. Squall was born in Brighton, CO. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Joanne Fletcher and brother, Ryan McClure. Squall was a huge David Bowie fan, a collector of Sci-fi memorabilia and an avid gamer.

King, Billie Jo, age 85, of Mt. Juliet, TN died October 23, 2022. Billie Jo was born in Tillman, SC and was the daughter of the late, Henry Wilson Floyd and Mamie Lila Grimes Floyd. Mandabach, Thomas Ambrose, age 97, of Astor, FL and formerly of Mt. Juliet, TN, died October 21, 2022. Thomas was born in Indianapolis, IN and was the son of the late, Theodore Mandabach and Marie Kelley Mandabach. He was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Community and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Thomas was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from G. Heileman Brewery as a District Manager. He enjoyed fishing. Thomas was also preceded in death by his wife, Jean Miller Mandabach; his daughter, Renea Mandabach Tharp and his siblings, Gertrude and Martin.

Robinson, Barry Wayne, age 66, of Antioch, TN died October 29, 2022. Barry was an active member of Hermitage Hills Baptist Church in his younger years. He was also active in the Boy Scouts of America and reached the highest rank achievable, an Eagle Scout. Barry was a 1974 graduate of Dupont High School where he ran track and broke several records. He earned his degree as an Industrial Engineer at Nashville Tech. Barry was an employee of Opryland Hotel and Resort. He enjoyed hunting and playing his guitar.

Henry, Teresa Lynn Kirby, age 66, of Mt. Juliet, TN died October 30, 2022. Teresa was born in Nashville, TN and was the daughter of the late, Eldon Kirby and Mary Anderson Kirby. She attended Joy Church. Teresa was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. She enjoyed being outdoors, riding horses, kayaking, hiking and traveling. Teresa was preceded in death by her daughter, Lori Hollandsworth and her grandson, Mitchell Ray Bradford, III.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2022 at Bond Memorial chapel with Mike Eversole officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens.

Thompson, Jerry Arnold, age 79, of Mt. Juliet, TN died October 12, 2022. Jerry was born in Dalton, GA and was the son of the late, Alford Lee Thompson and Mary Ellen German Thompson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Faye Thompson and sister, Lola (Opie) Graham. Jerry was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam and enjoyed working on cars, spending time at the ocean and fishing.

Graveside services with military honors will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Tennessee Georgia Memoria Park, 724 Hogan Road, Rossville, GA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
