Wedekind, Carolyn Lee, age 73, of Mt. Juliet, TN died November 1, 2022. Carol was born in Nashville, TN and was the daughter of the late, Guy G. Lee, Jr. and Clysta Judkins Lee. She was a 1967 graduate of Donelson High School. Carol enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially during the holidays. Her children and granddaughters were her pride and joy. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Pat Baugus.

She is survived by:

Children – Michael (Lisa) Wedekind and Mary Beth (Tommy) Howard

Brothers – Tom (Peggy) Lee and Rick (Florence) Lee

Granddaughters – Ava Wedekind and Jenna Jones

Smeykal, Mary Nan Eason, age 89, went to be with Jesus on Sunday, November 6, 2022.  Mary Nan was born in Pulaski, TN on December 30, 1932 to the late, William T. Eason and Stella Cole Eason Ingram.  Mary Nan was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and a member of the Lord’s Chapel and Christ Church of Nashville, TN.   She retired from the US Army Corps of Engineers in Nashville where she was selected as Nashville District Corps employee of the year for her excellent service.   She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.  Everyone who knew Mary Nan, knew her love for the Lord.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Smeykal and brother, William Harris Eason.  

She is survived by her children, Steve (Kathy) Smeykal of Brentwood, TN, Karen (Kent) Smith of Cleveland, TN, and Connie (Faron) Kelsh of Mt. Juliet, TN; brother Robert E. Eason and grandchildren, Amie (Richard) Davis, Zach (Emily) Smeykal, Megan and Jordan Smith and Kendal Kelsh; as well as four great-grandchildren, Nathan Smeykal, Brielle Rucker, Kai Davis, and Audree Davis.  Also, survived by her loving cousin Shirley (Richard) Bagwell.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 9 from 6 pm to 7 pm and Thursday, November 10 from 10 am to 11am at Bond Funeral Home in Mt. Juliet, Tn.  Services will be conducted on November 10 at 11 am at Bond Funeral Home in Mt. Juliet, TN with Pastor John McClendon officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Pulaski, TN.  Active Pallbearers will be Jeff Eason, Ronnie Eason, Mike Eason, Zach Smeykal, Richard Davis, David Cannon. Honorary Pallbearers include Robert E. Eason and Richard Bagwell. 

Blessings to all of her many family and friends for their love and prayers. The family also wishes to extend its grateful appreciation to the dedicated and caring staff at Harmony Assisted Living of Mt. Juliet.

Holmgren, Kristofer Paul, age 57, of Lebanon, TN died November 5, 2022 of heart related issues while beating Stage 4 Prostate Cancer . Kris, with his sons, was the owner of Holmgren Excavation. He was a hard worker and a Jack-of-All-Trades. Kris liked anything on wheels, including cars, trucks and motorcycles. He also loved guns, playing the lottery, NASCAR, football, playing poker and spending every minute he could in the garage. Kris was preceded in death by his father, Peter Fredrik Holmgren and brother, Glen Holmgren.

He is survived by:

Mother – Arlene Holmgren

Step-mother – Jane Holmgren

Sons – Kyle Holmgren, Kris Holmgren and Kody (McKenzie) Holmgren

Smith, Louise B., age 97, of Mt. Juliet, TN died November 13, 2022. Louise was born in Nashville, TN and was the daughter of the late, Sam P. Busby and Nellie Jane Thompson Busby. She was the oldest living member of Bethel Primitive Baptist Church and she and her husband, Leland were the oldest married couple in the church. Louise was a former Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader. She was an avid Vanderbilt fan and was a season ticket holder for many years. Louise enjoyed traveling around the world and was a collector of coins, stamps, plates and birds. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Keith Hamilton and 3 brothers.

She is survived by:

Husband of 74 ½ years – Leland L. Smith

Daughter – Lisa (John) Hamilton

Grandchildren – Sherri Hamilton Young, John (Christy) Hamilton, Jr.,

                        Lindsay (Andrew) Smith Bryant and Leslie Smith

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Pastor Elder Ronald Lawrence and Elder John Tidwell officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Bethel Primitive Baptist Church.

Parrish, Charles Gaylon, age 76, of Mt. Juliet, TN died November 15, 2022. Charles was born in Lebanon, TN and was the son of the late, Russell Dee Parrish and Mary Elizabeth Esters Parrish. He was a 1964 graduate of Mt. Juliet High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Charles, with his brother, Robert, was the owner of Parrish Brothers Construction and Charles later owned Charles G. Parrish Construction. He was a member of Mt. Juliet Masonic Lodge #642 F&AM. Charles was also preceded in death by his brothers, Terry and Jack Parrish and his sister, Peggy Sharpe.

Daughters – Pamela (Andy) Frangenberg and Ashley Parrish

Brothers – Robert (Barbara) Parrish and Ronald (Regina) Parrish

Cobb, Mary Ann, age 92, of Mt. Juliet, TN died November 17, 2022. Mary was born in Pulaski, TN and was the daughter of the late, Guy Minatra and Mary Carden Minatra. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Donelson. Mary was also preceded in death by her husband Ed Cobb and 10 siblings.

She is survived by:

Robinson, Ferrell Wayne, age 89, of Old Hickory, TN died November 22, 2022. Wayne was born in Davidson County, TN and was the son of the late, Horace Hale Robinson and Ola D. Smith Robinson. He was a member of Silver Springs Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Wayne spent 30 years as a teacher in the Metro Public School System and 31 years as security with the Ryman. During his time at Gaylord Opryland, he provided security for an illustrious list of U.S. Presidents and Vice Presidents, Prime Ministers, Senators, Congressmen, Governors, Mayors, Generals, Sports figures and Entertainers. Wayne was also preceded in death by his son, Barry Wayne Robinson and his siblings, Louie, Billy and Delores.

He is survived by:

Wife of 69 ½ years – Joyce Hicks Robinson

Daughter – Sherry (Gerald) Burns

Daughter-in-law – Karen Robinson

Grandchildren – Bonnie (Arthur) Lachowicz, Kenneth (Ereck) Burns and

Rinks, Marcus Edgar, 91, of Mt. Juliet, TN, went to be with his Lord on November 22, 2022.  He was an active member of the Mt. Juliet Church of Christ and retired from the United States Air Force. He was preceded in death by Edith M. Rinks, his devoted wife of 66 years. Marc was born on July 18, 1931, in Iron City, TN.  He served in the Viet Nam War and had overseas tours in Saudi Arabia and Germany. His Air Force stateside assignments took him to Illinois, Texas, Montana, Mississippi, Alabama, Colorado and Massachusetts.  After retiring with 23 years in the military, he became an instructor for high school Junior ROTC programs in Little Rock, Arkansas, and then Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. In the mid-1970s he started selling real estate and was a Million Dollar salesman his first year.  It wasn’t long until he became a broker and opened his own office, Marc Rinks Realty. Marc and Edith loved to travel making three trips to Alaska in their RV and lots of group trips with the Wally Byam Caravan Club.  Many Octobers you could find them in the Smokey Mountains National Park enjoying the fall colors.  Then they would become snowbirds spending the winter in Florida. Marc was preceded in death by his parents, Freemon Edgar Rinks and Clevia Irene Rinks and three of his seven sisters, Elsie Marie Kimbrell, Etta LaVerne Herrmann, and Mary Ella Cheney.

He is survived by:

Daughters - Jeannie (Garth) Crownover, Sandi (Mike) Robertson, and Donna Campbell

Sisters - Margie (Grimes) Nix, Nell Belew, Carol DeMongin, and Freda (Jimmy) Dryden and Grandchildren - Emily (Herb) Kajihara, Erin (James) Shanks, Cara (Kevin) Rainbolt,

                       Michelle (Billy) Gawley, Jana (Jerry) Dodd, Justin (BriAnne) Campbell and

                       Ryan (Colleen) Campbell. 

Twelve great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and other extended family who will miss him very much.

 

A very special thank you to Providence Place Assisted Living and Alive Hospice for all of their exceptional care during the last few months of his long life.

 

Funeral services will be conducted 12:30 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Mt. Juliet Church of Christ, 1940 N. Mt. Juliet Road, Mt. Juliet, TN with Bro. Craig Evans officiating. Interment with military honors will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2022 at Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will include family members, Justin Campbell, Jackson Campbell, Grant Campbell, Michael Gawley, James Shanks, Herb Kajihara, Caden Dodd, and Cruz Dodd.

Fry, Terry William, age 74, of Lebanon, TN died November 24, 2022. Terry was born in San Diego, CA and was the son of the late, Raymond Chester Fry and Jean Howard Fry. He worked in the Healthcare Industry for many years. Terry enjoyed music, movies and photography.

Parsons, Pearl Phillips, age 80, of Mt. Juliet, TN passed peacefully at her home on November 23, 2022. Pearl was born in Knoxville, TN and was the daughter of the late, John C. Phillips and Paralee Rose Thompson Phillips. She was also preceded in death by her beloved sister, JoAnna Phillips Ware and brother, Meredith Phillips.

 

She is survived by her husband, Roy L. Parsons. They shared their hopes and dreams together for 61 years and together they built a thriving business and great family.

She was a loving mother to her children, John “Rusty” (Patty) Parsons, Kimberly Parsons (Pat) Connell and Angela Parsons (Ronald) Galyon; loving grandmother to Clint (Jamie) Parsons, Alex (Caroline) Connell and Cody Connell and great-grandmother to Melody Connell. She is also survived by her brother, Richard “Doc” Phillips and an aunt to a host of nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Bond Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Flatt, Mary Jo, age 85, of Lebanon, TN died November 26, 2022. Mary Jo was born in Nashville, TN and was the daughter of the late, Charlie Durham and Inez Myers Durham. She was a member of Mt. Juliet Church of Christ. Mary Jo enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening.

Wayne H. “Smitty” “Diz” Smith Jr, 64, of Mount Juliet TN, passed away Sunday November 27th, 2022. He was born April 3rd, 1958, in Schenectady NY.

 

Prior to his retirement in 2015, he was a NYS corrections officer for 26 years a career in which he took great pride in and made many great friends that became brothers and sisters throughout the years.

 

Most of those that knew Wayne, knew him as “Smitty” or “Diz”. He was an avid sports fan and a diehard Dodger fan. He enjoyed anything sports related, especially traveling to different stadiums and events across the country with his family and friends. He also enjoyed vacationing to tropical destinations and cruises with those he loved. He usually could be found sitting by a pool for hours listening to music and dancing.

 

His greatest and most recent passion in life though was his grandson, Henry, who he absolutely loved. Henry adored doing just about anything with his PaPa too.

 

Wayne is survived by his son, daughter-in-law, and grandson; Christopher, Amanda, and Henry Smith; his wife of 15 years Donna Smith; sister Robin Smith; aunt, Donna Samatulski and her children; Chad and Charlene.

 

He was predeceased by his mother and stepfather Darlene and Frank Yarum, father, Wayne H. Smith Sr, Uncles Ronnie and Billy Samatulski.

 

In lieu of services, we will have a celebration of life with details to follow.
