Withers, Reverend James Allen, age 66, of Hermitage, TN, died April 11, 2018. Rev. Withers was a retired chaplain from the Air Force, with 30 years of service and also a chaplain at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN. Allen served in pastorates in South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee. He was a member of the Military Chaplains Association, the Military Officer Association and a life member of the Reserve Officer Association. Allen was a loving son, husband and father. His greatest joy was being a father to his precious son, Matt, and husband to the love of his life, his “girlfriend”, Paula. Allen was preceded in death by his father, Wilburn Allen Withers and son, Matthew Allen Withers. He was an inspiration to some and a friend to all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

Graves, Mary Lou Roeser, age 82, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died April 11, 2018. Mrs. Graves was a born in Old Hickory, TN and was a graduate of St. Cecilia Academy. She had been a resident of Mt. Juliet for more than sixty years. Mrs. Graves was the daughter of the late, Louis and Marie Daschner Roeser. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert L. Graves and her brother, Phillip L. Roeser.

She is survived by:

Baker, Catherine Welch Morgan “Cathey”, age 66, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died April 14, 2018. Mrs. Baker attended Joy Church and loved to read her Bible. She enjoyed writing poetry, sewing, collecting stuffed animals and nick-naks, shopping, watching tv and plays, fireworks and going out to eat. She loved animals, especially her dog, Cassie and her grand-dog Chloe and liked to ride the backroads looking for deer. She was always so happy and excited to receive gifts and was always think of her children and her grandchildren before herself. Mrs. Baker was the daughter of the late, G.W. and Ovie Gertrude Biles Morgan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Baker and her sister, Carolyn Morgan Soens, her grandparents, Hattie Biles, Carlos Roosevelt Biles and Beulah Morgan.

She is survived by:

Greene, Jonathan Matthew “Jon”, age 31, of Hermitage, TN, died April 17, 2018. Jon was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. He was a 2005 graduate of Mt. Juliet High School and pursued higher education at the University of Tennessee and Volunteer State Community College. Jon earned his Associates Degree from Volunteer State Community College in 2016. He was an accomplished athlete and achieved excellence as a runner in the Half Marathon and also as a martial artist. Jon enjoyed camping and loved animals, especially his dogs, Rosey, Sandy and Callie.

Thornton, Michael Wade, age 52, of Watertown, TN, died April 14, 2018.

Mike attended Antioch High School. He was a subcontractor for Jeff Henson Construction. Mike was a history buff and had recently started collecting antique military guns.

Sherwood, Edward Arthur, age 81, of Hermitage, TN, died April 18, 2018.  Mr. Sherwood was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Upon entering the military, he studied Russian in Monterey, CA and served in the Army Security Agency for 6 years. He was a retired architect with Gould Turner Group and after retirement, he worked at the Hermitage Walmart as a greeter. Mr. Sherwood enjoyed fishing, gardening and loved baseball, especially the NY Yankees. He loved his family and was so proud of his grandkids and great-grandkids.  He shared stories about them with his many Wal Mart customers! He will be missed greatly by his special 4-legged friend, Sadie. Mr. Sherwood was the son of the late, Clarence and Alfretta Sherwood. He was also preceded in death by 1 brother and 3 sisters.

He is survived by:

Storz, III, Frank Bernard, age 75, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died April 15, 2018. Frank was a member of Providence United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired after working many years in the Publishing Industry. Frank was a wonderful Husband, Father and Papa and a loyal friend and church member. He was known for his sense of humor and his support his teams, Vanderbilt, the Titans and the Predators. He loved airplanes and walking his beloved collies. Frank was the son of the late, Frank Bernard and Mildred L. Barber Storz.

Davenport, Mary Ann, 93, of Bristol, TN, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2018, at Carrick Glen Senior Living Facility in Mount Juliet, TN, following a brief illness.  She was born on August 28, 1924, in Nashville, TN, the daughter of Clifton and Mary Hale Stringe.  She was a graduate of Peabody College in Nashville and Cornell University – New York Hospital School of Nursing in New York City.  After graduation, Mary Ann moved to Maryville, TN, where she served as a public health nurse for a number of years and, there, met the love of her life, Clayton T. Davenport.  They were married on December 24, 1949, in Knoxville, TN. Upon his graduation from the University of Tennessee School of Law, they returned to Clayton’s hometown of Bristol, TN.  Mary Ann was devoted to her family, the community, and her church.  Her homemade rolls, red velvet cake, and floating island pudding were famous among family and friends.  She was an avid Lady Vols Basketball fan, gardener, and lover of animals. 

 

Mary Ann was instrumental in creating the Meals on Wheels Ministry, which continues to be operated by Bristol churches, and she was its sole coordinator from 1973-2008. In addition, Mary Ann served for years as both a Pink Lady with the Hospital Auxiliary and as a leading member of her women’s group at Windsor Avenue Presbyterian Church.  For her service to the community, specifically her 35 years leading Meals on Wheels, Mary Ann was one of the Inaugural Mayor’s Award of Distinction recipients in 2008.

 

In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by Clayton, her beloved husband of 60 years.

Lannom, Regina Raye, age 52, of Old Hickory, TN, died April 25, 2018. Regina was a hairdresser at Caster Knott in Hermitage for over 20 years. She was the daughter of the late, Edward Raye and Mary Hagan. She was also preceded in death by son, Dana Lee Lannom and brothers, Roy Lee Jenkins and Eddie Jenkins.

Holt, Sandra Ann (Sims), age 71, of Mt. Juliet, TN and formerly of Clarksville, TN, died April 26, 2018. Mrs. Holt was a member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Juliet. She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse. Mrs. Holt loved to travel and she and her husband, Max, had visited 37 countries and 29 states. Her heart was one of giving, rather than receiving.  Her passions were her grandchildren and serving in missions through her former church, Hilldale Baptist in Clarksville.  Mrs. Holt spent 20 years serving annually in CASA Alleluia, an orphanage in Guatemala, where she sponsored three girls that are now college graduates.

Russell, Charles Willard, age 89, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died April 27, 2018. Mr. Russell was a member of Mt. Juliet Church of Christ and a former member of Vultee Church of Christ where he served as deacon, treasurer and bible school teacher. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, sailing around the world, during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Russell was a graduate of Isaac Litton High School and David Lipscomb University. He was retired from Genesco, Inc. Mr. Russell was the son of the late, Basil E. and Olene Jenkins Russell. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Gail Russell Hutson.

Davidson, Benjamin Jacob, age 26, of Jackson, TN and formerly of Mt. Juliet, TN, died April 27, 2018. Ben was a 2010 graduate of Wilson Central High School, where he was President of the FCA and the leader of the Flag Pole Prayer. He was currently enrolled at Jackson State Community College. He held an EMT license and was currently furthering his EMT training with the hopes of being on the Life Flight Crew. Ben was preceded in death by his Papa and Grandma, Bill and Shirley Davidson.

Triviño, Natividad Sepina, age 99, of Mt. Juliet, TN and formerly of Greeneville, TN, died April 27, 2018. Mrs. Triviño was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Community. She enjoyed crafting and cross stitching. Mrs. Triviño was the daughter of the late, Pablo and Anacoreta Cabunyag Sepina. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gregorio De Chavez Triviño; daughter, Ester; sons, Ben and Cesar Sepina Triviño; daughter-in-law, Thelma Tallud Triviño; sisters, Anna Sepina Regulto and her husband, Gregorio, and Antonia Sepina Virtusio and her husband, Pedrito and brother, Lucio Desiderio Sepina and his wife, Eugenia.
