Jordan, Sr., Rev. Curtis Franklin, age 78, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died July 5, 2017. Rev. Jordan was a member of Gladeville Baptist Church. He pastored for many years at Knight’s Baptist Church in Plant City, FL and Highland Baptist Church in Pine Hills, FL. “However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.” Acts 20:24. Rev. Jordan was the son of the late, Johnny W. Jordan, Sr. and Effie Mae Cannon Jordan. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Emilie Jordan

He is survived by:

Brothers – Billy Jordan and Howell Jordan

Grandchildren – Jim D. (Tracy) Hartman, Jennifer D. (Joe) Avery,

Thompson, Herman Eugene, age 89, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died July 6, 2017. Mr. Thompson was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Community. He retired from Frito Lay after 30 years of service. Mr. Thompson was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion Post #88 for over 50 years. Mr. Thompson was an avid fan of the UT Vols and the Atlanta Braves.

He was the son of the late, Donnie and Lucille Thompson. Mr. Thompson was also preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie Holland; brother, Douglas Thompson and sister, Annie Thompson.

He is survived by:

Wife of 66 years – Margaret Davy Thompson

Sons – Jeff Thompson and Gary Thompson

Son-in-law – Barry Holland

Brother – Mitchell Thompson

Grandchildren – Stacie Holland, Brian (Megan) Holland, Philip Holland,

                       Victoria Thompson (Davis) Harrison and Davy Thompson

Great-grandchildren – Aiden Woods, Emma Kate Holland and Maddox Holland

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, July 10, 2017 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Father Pat Kibby officiating. Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Delmas Brake and L.C. Gregory.

Turner, Ruby Odell, formerly Ruby Abdo, age 90, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died July 5, 2017. Ruby was born in Chickamauga, GA on March 13, 1927. She owned and operated multiple businesses including Coo Coo Ceramics in St. Clair Shores, MI and Bellevue Billards in Bellevue, TN. Ruby was preceded in death by her father, Brackett C. Turner; mother, Katie L. Pedigo; brother, Brackett K. “Buck” Turner and the love of her life, ex-husband, Donald E. Abdo. Ruby was a force of nature and will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by:

Son – Curtis K. Abdo and his wife Eve Vaupel Abdo

Grandsons – Alexander L. Abdo and Zachary T. Abdo

 

A Remembrance Service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Old Hickory Country Club, 1904 Old Hickory Blvd., Old Hickory, TN with a reception to follow until 5 p.m.

Powers, Patricia Evans “Tricia”, age 64, of Nashville, TN, died July 9, 2017. Tricia was Catholic. She loved horses and was the Tennessee Barrel Racing Champion for 3 years in a row. Tricia was preceded in death by her parents, John R. and Mary Curley Evans. She was also preceded in death by her great-nephew, Carey Jones.

She is survived by:

Sons – Bo (Holli) Hager and Josh (Autumn) Baber

Brother – John R. (Louise) Evans, III

Sisters – Jacque Smithson and Juli (J.R.) Kelley

Grandchildren – Shelton (Karen) Hager, Megan (Ryan) Dunnewold,

Gawel, Ginger McGlothlin, age 71, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died July 14, 2017.

Mrs. Gawel attended Hickory Hills Baptist Church. She enjoyed baking. Mrs. Gawel was the daughter of the late, Leo and Fortunata Rende McGlothlin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Czeslaw “Chester” Joseph Gawel.

She is survived by:

Son – Michael (Kristin) Gawel

Daughter – Tania Gawel

Grandchildren – Cody Gawel, Alexa Gawel, Brayana Walker and Hayden Gawel

Wayer, Donna Sue, age 70, of Hermitage, TN, died July 25, 2017. Ms. Wayer was a native of Mt. Vernon, Illinois. She was the daughter of the late, Robert Walter and Cora Beatrice Sheldon Johnson.

Crisp, William Terry, age 71, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died July 31, 2017. Mr. Crisp was a native of Knoxville, TN. He was a formerly a State Trooper with the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Mr. Crisp was the son of the late, Jack McKinley and Margaret Loraine Trotter Crisp.  He was also preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Hurlbert.

 

He is survived by:

Wife of 47 years – Patricia Crisp

Daughters – Amy Crisp and Patti Crisp

Brother – Jerry Lynn (Phyllis) Crisp
