Weston, Betty Nell Petty, age 83, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died December 2, 2016. Mrs. Weston was a member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Juliet. She enjoyed quilting and sewing. Mrs. Weston was the daughter of the late, Floyd M. and Era Moss Petty. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Freddie M. Weston, Sr. and four siblings.
She is survived by:

Hagar, Mary Elizabeth, age 84, of Hermitage, TN, passed away peacefully at her home on December 5, 2016. Mary was born on February 1, 1932 in Nashville, TN to the late, Andrew Miller and Margaret Louise Huffman Roberson. She attended Central High School and was retired from Gibson Guitar. Mary was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Donelson for over 50 years. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Jesse Lucille, Emma Lois and Martha Louise and brothers, James William, Andrew Eugene and Floyd Wesley. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as, a tremendous cook. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by:

Hedgepath, Karlea Alyn, age 24, of Smyrna, TN, died December 10, 2016.
Karlea was a 2011 graduate of Smyrna High School, where she was a cheerleader. She was also a graduate of the Paul Mitchell Academy and an employee of Signature Salon in Tullahoma, TN. Karlea was preceded in death by her grandfather, Claude Everett and uncle, Kenny Everett.

Mullins, Gary LaDale, age 67, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died December 14, 2016. Mr. Mullins was retired from the U.S. Navy and from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was an avid Pittsburg Steelers fan and he enjoyed hunting and cooking. Mr. Mullins was the son of the late, Kyle and Marie Privett Mullins. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen Kacy Dutton Mullins.

Short, Benny Ralph, age 62, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died December 21, 2016. Benny was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a merchandising manager for Walmart. He loved history, music and most of all his family and friends. Benny was the son of the late, Calvin Quinton Short and Drusilla Edwards Schuffert. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Short.

Bryant, Jr., Ellis Felix, age 58, of Lebanon, TN, died December 19, 2016.
Ellis was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a truck driver with Denny Trucking but had been a driver with many other trucking companies. Ellis was the son of the late, Ellis F. Bryant, Sr. and Barbara Jean Parton Bryant.

Shields, Rev. Paul Rees, age 85, of Nashville, TN, went to be with the Lord on December 28, 2016 surrounded by his family, after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Erlanger, KY on April 20, 1931, to the late, Rev. C.F. and Almeta Shields. Paul was also preceded in death by his wife, Trudy Shields and brother, Gene Shields. Paul was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, stationed in Germany. He was a proud member and trombonist of the 7th Army Headquarters Band. Paul received his undergraduate degree in Religion and Music from Trevecca Nazarene University and his M.Ed. in Guidance and Counseling from MTSU. He taught elementary and high school band for several years in Nashville area schools. His ministry included churches in Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana and Iowa. After retirement from full-time ministry, he made 17 mission trips to Haiti. For the past ten years, “Pastor Paul” has volunteered as visitation pastor at The Grace Place. His ministry exuded the love of Christ. Everyone who was fortunate enough to know him soon found out what it was like to be loved. That truly became his mission for life.

Spurlock, Aline Forkum, age 90, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died December 31, 2016. Aline was born on May 16, 1926 in Gainesboro, TN and was the daughter of the late, Hubert and Clara Settles Forkum. She was a member of the Church of Christ, having attended the Mt. Juliet congregation for many years. Aline was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Buford Spurlock; oldest grandson, Darren Spurlock and brothers, Freeman, Garland, Goldman and Raymond Forkum. She will be missed!
