Marlin, Leland Hugh, age 72, of Old Hickory, TN, died September 2, 2016.

Mr. Marlin was a member of Victory Baptist Church. He was retired from Dupont with over 40 years of service and was a member of the Old Hickory Club. Mr. Marlin was the son of the late, Luther and Lela Akin Marlin and was also preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Marlin. He was a dedicated husband, loving father and a good Christian man.

 

He is survived by:

Wife of 49 years – Linda Jackson Marlin

Children – Jason (Kristi) Marlin and Kimberly (John) Coursey

Sisters – Edith Marlin and Margaret Baker

Grandchildren – Nina Coursey and Savannah Coursey

Several nieces and nephews

 

Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Monday, September 5, 2016 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Rev. Chuck Groover officiating. Interment will follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.

Goodman, Mary Agnes, age 73, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died September 12, 2016. Mary was a member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Juliet. She was a bus driver for Wilson County Schools of 30 years; had a vegetable stand on Rutland Road for 25 years and was a member of Big Brothers of Mt. Juliet. Mary was preceded in death by her father, Homer Roberts; husband, James Ray Goodman; daughter, Cynthia Huffman and brother, Homer Roberts, Jr. Mary was always willing to lend an ear to those who wanted to talk.

She is survived by:

Mother – Julie Roberts

Daughter – Cheryl Huffman

Sisters – Frances (Ben) Hartman and Rose Moore

Sister-in-law – Sharon Roberts

Grandchildren – Miranda Jackson and Nikki McGowan

Great-grandchildren – Noelle Jackson, Kortney Jackson and

                               Jazlinn Ameara Renee McGowan

She was a special aunt to a host of nieces and nephews and special niece, Brenda Dodd.

 

She is also survived by her special little buddy, Trey Alexander Roberts and many friends at the Mt. Juliet Bus Shop.

 

Funeral services will be conducted 12 noon Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Bond Memorial Chapel with David Fallin officiating.

 

Interment will follow at Rutland Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Billy Gatlin, James Gatlin, Eugene Hartman, Timmy Hartman, Earl Dodd and Chris Jackson.

 

Honorary pallbearers will be her fellow Wilson County School Bus Drivers.

Moeller, Marion Edith “Moe”, age 77, of Smyrna, TN, died September 11, 2016. Moe was preceded in death by her father, Arthur E. Moeller and mother, Flora Jensen (William) Chamberlain. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Elaine Moeller and Flora Guadagno.

She is survived by:

Daughter – Susan Perkins

Grandchildren – Christopher (Michelle) Baker

Doyal, Joel Michael, age 43, of Nashville, TN, died September 14, 2016. He is preceded in death by his father, Frank Harrison Doyal.

Williams, Steven Troy, age 40, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died September 16, 2016. Troy graduated from Mt. Juliet High School in 1994 and then attended Nashville Tech.

He is survived by:

Sister – Amanda (Tommy Bonham) Williams

Bates, Martelia Irene, age 90, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died September 24, 2016 at Carrick Glen Senior Living. She was a former resident of Rutland Place. Mrs. Bates was born on July 13, 1926, in a log cabin on Guill Road in Mt. Juliet, and except for a few years in Nashville, she resided in Mt. Juliet most of her life. During World War II, Mrs. Bates was a telephone operator while a student at Mt. Juliet High School, where she graduated in 1945. The story she wrote about that experience is archived at the Rosie the Riveter WWII Home Front National Historical Park in Richmond, CA. Mrs. Bates was a member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Juliet for 73 years, where she belonged to the Sonshiners Group. A homemaker, she was also a babysitter for several children in Mt. Juliet over the years. She loved quilting, crocheting, tatting, sewing, cooking and growing vegetables. She never drove a car during her lifetime. Mrs. Bates was the daughter of the late, Arthur and Johnnie Lee Bond Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Calvin Dean Bates who died on December 24, 1996.

 

She is survived by:

Daughters – Bonnie Bates, Diane Bennett and Patricia Bates

Brother – James E. Smith

Grandson – Zachary (Audrey)Bennett

Several nieces and nephews

Dorsey, Robert Jesse “Bob”, age 89, of Nashville, TN, died September 21, 2016. Bob was a member of Grace Nazarene Church and was known as a Prayer Warrior. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Bob retired from Dupont with over 30 years of service and later served as a Pastor for seniors at Christ Church. He was an avid golfer. Bob was the son of the late, Robert Jesse Dorsey, Sr. and Laura Stephens Dorsey. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Dot, Nell and Jean.

 

He is survived by:

Daughters – Robbie (Bryant) Millsaps, Joy (Steve) Gregory and

                  June (Gary) Lunn

Sister – Juanita Conners

He was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

 

A memorial service will be conducted 6 p.m. Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Grace Church of the Nazarene, 2620 Pennington Bend Road, Nashville, TN with Dr. Bryant Millsaps, Pastor Jonathon Trees and Pastor Mike Suits officiating. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Bradley, Gerald, age 74, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died September 26, 2016. Gerald was a member of Hermitage Hills Baptist Church. He was the son of the late, Hubert Wilson and Carmon Katherine Bradley.

Drueck, Jr., Wallace Walter “Wally”, age 54, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died September 19, 2016. Wally was a graduate from the University of Tennessee at Martin and Nashville School of Law. He retired as a Special Agent with the IRS Criminal Investigation Division. Highlights of his field investigation work include working security detail for Russian Prime Minister Michel Gorbachov, President George H.W. Bush and First Lady Hillary Clinton. He worked closely with the FBI and the DEA to handle White Collar Crimes and Security Detail. Wally was most proud of his recognition and service award by Kenneth Starr for his service to the Whitewater Investigation.

As a lawyer and program manager assigned to the E-Discovery Program for the IRS-CI, he handled E-Crimes, Computer Forensics and Congressional and Department of Justice requests, reviewing legal issues and protecting client rights. In 2009, he won the IRS Chief Counsel’s Sheldon Cohen Award for this work. Wally served as legal advisor to the Treasury and Homeland Security Departments. He became an expert witness on digital evidence for the Department of Treasury and Justice. Wally was well known as the legal instructor for multiple Federal agencies for many years at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.

After Wally retired from the IRS-CI, he practiced law for civil and criminal cases in the Middle Tennessee area. He maintained his membership with the Federal Bar and the Tennessee Bar Associations.

He was a longtime member of Cooks United Methodist Church and he also attended Victory Baptist Church and The Bridge. Wally was also a member of the Mt. Juliet Breakfast Rotary Club.

Of all of Wally’s achievements, none were more important to him than being a husband, a father and a friend.

Wally was the son of the late, Wallace Walter Drueck, Sr. and Catherine Margaret Thompson Drueck.

 

He is survived by:

His Loving Wife – Robbie Gwen Drueck

His Cherished Sons – Marshall Wallace Drueck and Ryan David Nelms

His Devoted Step-daughter – Elise Rhea Brown

 

Family and friends will gather at 10 a.m. and funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Cooks United Methodist Church, 7919 Lebanon Rd., Mt. Juliet, TN with Rev. Chuck Groover and Pastor Craig Goff officiating. Following the service there will be a reception in the Youth Hall of the church, where refreshments will be served. Honorary pallbearers will be Ryan Nelms, Marshall Drueck, John Winchester, Brian Baker, Tommy Edmondson and John Henry Smith.

 

At Wally’s request, his remains will be cremated and will be buried at Highland Memorial Gardens, Jackson, TN next to his father and mother at a later date.
