Andrews, Benjamin John-Whitcomb “Ben”, age 29, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died July 2, 2016. Ben was a member of Providence United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his mother, Ann Andrews; grandparents, Ellis and Lorene Andrews, Ann Bronaugh; uncle, John Bronaugh

 

He is survived by:

Father and Step-Mother – Glen and Terri Andrews

Step-Brothers – Evan (Misty) Witherington, Ryan (Nicole) Witherington

Memorial services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2016 at Providence United Methodist Church with Rev. Jacob Armstrong officiating.

Nielson, Eldon Welin, age 99, of Hermitage, TN and formerly of Monroe, NE, died July 4, 2016. Mr. Nielson was a member of the Lutheran faith. He was educated in the Platt County school system. After attending aircraft training school, he worked for Bell Aircraft in Buffalo, NY and Niagara Falls, NY until enlisting in the military. Mr. Nielson was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Navy Seabees. He spent his lifetime farming and in 1998 he moved to Tennessee to live with his daughter, Mary. Mr. Nielson was a former member of the Senior Citizen Center in Mt. Juliet, TN and Lebanon, TN, as well as the Senior Citizen Center in Genoa, NE. He was also a former member of the AARP and the Edward Larson American Legion Post #144. Mr. Nielson was the son of the late, Ova and Ellen Welin Nielson. Mr. Nielson was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen Luchsinger Nielson and his sisters, Ethel, Eleanor and Marjorie.

He is survived by:

Daughter – Mary Kelsey

Brother – Harold W. Nielson

Grandchildren – Amy Kelsey and her companion, Chuck Jones and

                       John (Laura) Kelsey

 

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2016 at Bond Memorial Chapel in Mt. Juliet, TN. There will also be visitation from 5-7 p.m. Friday July 8, 2016 at Ramaekers Patrick Funeral Home, 420 Willard Avenue, Genoa, NE. Funeral services will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Augustana Lutheran Church, 724 Webster Avenue, Genoa, NE. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery.

Gurkin, Mary Elizabeth Nuel Schmittou, age 90, of Hermitage, TN, died July 7, 2016. Mrs. Gurkin was a member of Hickory Bend United Methodist Church. She was employed for over 30 years by Fidelity Federal, where she served as Vice President of Teller Operations. Mrs. Gurkin was the daughter of the late, Raybon and Naomi Johns Schmittou. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, David “Gran” Gurkin and 5 siblings.

She is survived by:

Children – Debbie (Tom) Withrow, Donna (Chris) Smith and

               Mitzi (Richard) Anderson

Brothers – Tom (Ruth) Schmittou and Rudy (Nan) Schmittou

Grandchildren – Michelle (P.J.) Brown, Nick (Kim) Withrow, Kelly Gibson,

                       Stephen Withrow, Chad (Angie) Withrow,

                       David (Jamie) Knight and Nathan (Andria) Knight

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Pastor Susan Gray officiating.

 

Interment will follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Chad Withrow, Joshua Gibson, Stephen Withrow, Nick Withrow, David Knight, Nathan Knight, Trent Withrow and P.J. Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be J. B. King, Billy Gurkin, Greg Puhl, Frank Boyd and Bob Withrow.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Willowbrook Hospice and Home Instead.

Dickeson, Lane Charles, age 19, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died July, 10, 2016. Lane was a member of Cooks United Methodist Church where he was active in the youth ministry. He was a 2015 graduate of Wilson Central High School. Lane was a stand-out wrestler at Wilson Central High School and was an avid fisherman. He spent the last year at Notre Dame College in South Euclid, OH on a wrestling scholarship.

He is survived by:

Sister – Jaycee Dickeson

Grandparents – Rick and Jeanette Pierce, Betty Dickeson and Dick Dickeson

Funeral services will be conducted 6 p.m. Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Cooks United Methodist Church, 7919 Lebanon Road, Mt. Juliet, TN with Pastor Sandra Clay officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Wilson Central Wrestling Team.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Wildcats Wrestling Club.

Hayes, Susan F. age 65, of Lebanon, TN, died July 16, 2016. Susan is preceded in death by her mother and several sisters and brothers.

Ulrikson, Eric Stephen, age 73, of Hermitage, TN, died July 17, 2016. Mr. Ulrikson was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War and was the recipient of two Bronze Stars. Mr. Ulrikson was a graduate of The Ohio State University and was employed as a manager for JC Penney for 21 years. He was the son of the late, Kempster and Marion Mincks Ulrikson.

He is survived by:

Wife of 52 years – Judy Pierson Ulrikson

Son – Jeff Ulrikson and his partner, Jim Fenos

Daughter – Libby Rea and her partner, Ken Wyks

Sisters – Anita (Dick) Swetnam and Kristin Kopp

Graves, Esther Hazel, age 94, of Murfreesboro, TN, died July 22, 2016. Mrs. Graves was a member of Harsh Chapel Baptist Church and was a Girl Scout Leader for many years. She was the daughter of the late, Minor Goings and Virgie Beulah Brooks Goodner. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Lewis and Louise Eidson.

Vogel-Suter, Lillian Monson, age 93, of Hermitage, TN, died July 24, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Arthur Monson and Susie Swider.  She is also preceded in death by her step-mother, Marjorie Monson; her first husband, John Edward Vogel; second husband, Ross Suter; grandson, Stephen Lee Will; granddaughter, Rebecca Alina Damrow; great grandchildren, Jeremy Daniel Brink, Sean Michael Peary.

McCluskey, Lanova Ligon, age 96, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died July 27, 2016.

Mrs. McCluskey was born April 3, 1920 in the Green Hill Community, now known as Mt. Juliet, TN to the late, Duncan and Gladys Ware Ligon. She lived her whole life in this area, attending the local elementary school and graduated from Mt. Juliet High School where she played basketball, one of her lifetime loves. Mrs. McCluskey attended Cumberland University from 1937-1938 and played collegiate basketball. She and her Mother opened Ligon’s Flower Shop in Donelson in 1941 and operated the shop for 43 years. During WWII, Mrs. McCluskey worked at Vultee as a riveter and that was where she met the love of her life, Mac. She retired from Tennessee Telephone Company after 20 years of service. Mrs. McCluskey was an avid knitter, crocheter and sports enthusiast. She taught hundreds of high school girls to knit and she never missed a high school football or basketball game. Mrs. McCluskey was an active member of Cooks United Methodist Church, a Brownie Scout Leader, a 50 year member of the Green Hill Family and Consumer Education Club, Green Hill Women’s Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, the African Violet Society of America and Harvey Freeman Chapter #181, Order of the Eastern Star. She occasionally went fishing with Mac, but after she caught the biggest crappie he had ever seen - he didn’t take her fishing again. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of nearly 70 years, W.J. “Mac” McCluskey and her brother, Herschel Ligon.    

 

She is survived by:

Son – Macky (Janet) McCluskey

Daughter – Margaret McCluskey (Bob) Pile

Grandchildren – Paul (Christina) McCluskey, Beth McCluskey,

                       Barbara (Mike) Hill, Susan Tramel and Jim Tramel and

                       Mary (Mike) Brow
