Gosslee, David Scott, age 67, of Hermitage, TN, formerly of Oak Ridge, TN passed away August 2, 2016. Dr. Gosslee was an Army Vietnam veteran, winning a Combat Infantry Badge and a Bronze Star. He later served as a decorated 101st Airborne Chaplain (Cpt) for two helicopter battalions at Ft. Campbell and a nuclear missile battalion in Germany during the First Gulf War, where he was endorsed by the Chaplaincy Full Gospel Churches. Dr. Gosslee was also a Salvation Army Chaplain and Chaplain (Lt. Col.) in the TN State Guard. He was an Eagle Scout and earned a BSEE with honors from UT Knoxville and a MDiv at Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis. Dr. Gosslee earned a Doctor of Divinity through ORU and North TN Bible Institute and Seminary. He married at Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis and pastored in MS, where he served as president of the Pontotoc County Baptist Ministerial Association and later in IN as a hospital Chaplain. Dr. Gosslee served 20 years as TN Air Pollution Control Specialist and Chief of Enforcement. He was a loving, faithful, Christian husband and father. He was a blessing to all and will be sorely missed, but we will see him again in Heaven. Dr. Gosslee was preceded in death by his father, David Gilbert Gosslee and brother, Robert Gosslee.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Bradford Rosenquist officiating.

 

Interment will be 1 p.m. Monday, August 8, 2016 at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on McCrory Lane, Pegram, TN.

Startup, Shawn Michael, age 47, of Hermitage, TN, died August 4, 2016.

Daniel, Carolyn Carr, age 73, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died August 10, 2016 after a heroic battle with cancer. Carolyn was a native of Knoxville, TN. She graduated from Knoxville East High School and earned a B.S. Degree from the University of Tennessee. Carolyn went on to earn a Masters Degree from George Peabody College in Nashville. She served as the head Librarian at McGavock High School for 31 years and was active in the American Library Association, serving in several local and national offices. Her personal love was Beta Sigma Phi. She served the local chapter in several positions. Carolyn was an active member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church. She loved tennis, UT football, traveling and craft work. Carolyn was the daughter of the late, James M. and Dot Carr.

 

She is survived by:

Husband of 51 years – Bob Daniel

Brothers – Bobby (Linda) Carr and Jim (Donna) Carr

Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2016 at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, 85 Fairway Drive, Nashville, TN with Rev. Vicki Burgess officiating.

Denney, Ora Dee Thomas, age 89, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died August 15, 2016.

Mrs. Denney was a member of Unity Church. She was the daughter of the late, Wilbert Fate and Elsie Amanda Bennett Tucker. Mrs. Denney was also preceded in death by her husbands, Elmer Eugene “Gene” Thomas and Dexter Denney and her son-in-law, Tooter Hogan.

She is survived by:

Locke, Dustin Shain, age 35, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died August 14, 2016. Dustin

Was baptized at Tulip Grove Baptist Church and had attended McFerrin Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Mt. Juliet High School and loved music and German cars, like BMW and Volkswagen. Dustin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl and Rosa Locke and Grady and Eleanor Berryman.

 

He is survived by:

Goodall, Margrete Ann, age 74, of Old Hickory, TN, died August 17, 2016. Mrs. Goodall was a member of the Lutheran faith. She was a dedicated wife and mother. Margrete served in the U.S. Army and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. She loved quilting, woodworking and traveling. Margrete was the daughter of the late, Adolf and Erna Jagusch Reisig. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Kellye Burgess and brothers, Otto Reisig, Adolf Reisig and Richard Reisig.

 

She is survived by:

Clark, Wendell Bruce, age 59, of Old Hickory, TN, died August 23, 2016. Wendell was a member of Mt. Juliet Church of Christ and was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Madison High School, where he played football, and also graduated from Nashville Tech.

Ewerling, William Opplis “Bill”, age 69, of Hermitage, TN, died August 27, 2016. Bill was of the Catholic faith and was a 1964 graduate of Antioch High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the Air Force and was a member of American Legion Post #88. Bill was a supporter of and a contributor to the American Red Cross, the Nashville Symphony and the Blair School of Music. He loved music, animals and rafting, especially Class 5 Rapids. Bill was the son of the late, John Leroy and Katherine Frances Holleman Ewerling. He was also preceded in death by his grandmother, Ann Holleman.

He is survived by:

Children – Jessica (Brandon) Clemons and Christopher (Candi) Ellis

Siblings – John David (Jackie) Ewerling and Bunny (Mike) Kemp

Grandchildren – Kanton Peacock, Kaleigh Clemons, Tiffany Ellis and

Cooper, Maggie Mae, age 78, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died August 29, 2016. Mrs. Cooper received her Bachelor’s degree from John J. College. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and decorating. She was an inspirational leader and had a great love for her family. Mrs. Cooper was the daughter of the late, Willie James and Lorena Bond Cherry. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Neal and her sister, Betty “Sandy” Jackson-Petty.

She is survived by:
