Jones, Lorie Kay, age 44, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died February 4, 2016. Lorie was a member of Mt. View Baptist Church. She was a 1989 graduate of Lavergne High School. Lorie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Harold Young and Earl and Ninna Howard.

 

She is survived by:

Son – Zack (Haley Pressley) Jones

Parents – Gary and Kathy Young

Former Husband – Dwayne Jones

Sisters – Elesha (Brad) Campbell and Aimee (Matthew) Lovvorn

Grandmother – Sylvia Young

Niece – Kayla Young

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Bond Memorial Chapel.

 

Interment will follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Active Pallbearers will be Matthew Lovvorn, Brad Campbell, Mark Jones, Jarrett Jones, Marvin Waldron and Conner Pressley.

Col. Floyd Stowe, USMC, Ret., age 70, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died February 3, 2016. Colonel Stowe enlisted in the USMC on November 19, 1964 and served until 1968. After completing OCS and TBS, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1969 and retired with the rank of Colonel in 1993 serving a total of 29 years. He spent one year in Vietnam (1970-1971) as an Air Intercept Control Officer. Col. Stowe taught high school math at Havelock High School in Havelock, NC and at Wilson Central High School. He was also the JROTC Senior Marine Instructor for eight years at Jesuit High School in New Orleans, LA. Col. Stowe was Founder and Chief of Township Volunteer Fire Department in Havelock, NC. He was the son of the late, Floyd Harry Stowe, Sr. and Eula Maye Bassett Stowe.

 

He is survived by:

Wife of 48 years and 5 months – Louise Dunkley Stowe

Sons – Chip Stowe and Richard (Jennifer) Stowe

Brother – Albert Stowe

Sister – Sydney Stowe

Grandchildren – Ashton Stowe, Caitlin Stowe and Taylor Stowe

Sister-in-law – Cathy Dunkley (Brian) Lowery

Niece – Anna Lowery (Brandon) Daniel

A memorial service will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Pastor Mark Youngman officiating.

 

Graveside service with full military honors will be in Virgilina Cemetery in Virgilina, VA on February 13, 2016.

Prater, James A., age 82, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died February 5, 2016. Mr. Prater was a member of the Church of God. He loved fishing, hunting, baseball, shooting pool and animals. Mr. Prater liked to go for walks and was an avid reader. He was the son of the late, Alonzo and Pansy Gertrude Stewart Prater. Mr. Prater was also preceded in death by his brothers, Edsel Prater and Paul Prater and his sister, Ruth Stanford.

 

He is survived by:

Mooneyham, Nancy McPeak, age 73, of Smyrna, TN, died February 9, 2016. Nancy was a member of Christ Servants Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late, Rufus S. McPeak, Sr. and Mildred Keele McPeak. She was also preceded in death by her husband Sammy Mooneyham.

 

She is survived by:

Children – Kenneth (Sharon) Mooneyham, Keith (Angela) Mooneyham and

               Kim Mooneyham

Brother – Rufus “PeeWee” McPeak, Jr.

Sister – Gloria Jeanette Victory

Mrs. Marcia J. (Mitchell) Jones, formerly of Oak Park, IL, passed away February 6, 2016 at her home in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee.  She is the daughter of the late Dr. Carl H. and Gwenythe Mitchell.

Pounds, Annabel Joy, age 3, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died peacefully at home on February 17, 2016. Annabel was born with a disease called Tay-Sachs that took her life at a very young age, but she knew nothing but love, joy and kindness from those fortunate enough to know her. Even though she is no longer able to breathe air here on Earth, she will live on in the hearts and lives of so many who love and miss her very much. This is only the beginning of Annabel’s legacy, and her story is far from over.

 

Annabel is survived by:

Close, Edwin Brown, age 91, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died peacefully at 2 a.m., Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Mt. Juliet Health Care. Mr. Close was born March 7, 1924 to the late, Tommy and Ova Taylor Close. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church. Mr. Close was retired from Murfreesboro Freight Line and the Nashville Auto Auction. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Shirley Close.

Oldham, Mikey Louise, age 70, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died February 17, 2016 of heart failure after a long battle with diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis. Mikey was born in 1945 in a hotel room above the doctor’s office in Groom, TX. She grew up in Pampa, TX. At 12 years old she knew she wanted to live her life in service to God and became interested in religious journalism. Her goal was to be an editor at the Baptist Sunday School Board, now known as Lifeway Church Resources. After teaching public school, serving as the Children’s Minister at First Baptist Church in Moore, Ok and earning a Masters of Divinity, she reached her goal. When her health permitted, she faithfully attended First Baptist Church of Mt. Juliet, where she also taught Sunday School for many years. The focus of her life was to serve God and minister to children, which she did while fighting through painful chronic illnesses. She lived as an example of strength and faith to all who knew her. Mikey was the daughter of the late, Charley and Dorothy Nell Tunnell Thomas. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Raymond Oldham and niece, Becky Porter.

 

She is survived by:

Nieces – Jenny, Debbie and Mandy

Kiser, Carolyn Elaine, age 72, of Lebanon, TN, died February 17, 2016. Mrs. Kiser was a member of Joy Church. She loved gardening and fishing and was very competitive when playing games. Mrs. Kiser was the daughter of the late, Ernest and Gertrude Pritchard Kiser. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, John Kiser, David Kiser and Paul Kiser.

Lay, Sunshine Mary, age 74, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died February 24, 2016. Mrs. Lay was the former owner of Sunshine’s Pizza and a cashier at Walmart for 30 years. She was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Community. Mrs. Lay was preceded in death by her mother, Mary McInally Barclay and husband, George Lay.

Gibson, Bobbie Jean, age 78, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died February 24, 2016. Mr. Gibson was a member of Victory Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961-1965 and was an aircraft mechanic and later worked for Mason Dixon Truck Lines and Consolidated Freight. Mr. Gibson was the son of the late, Lester and Eva Kinsler Gibson. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Reba Jean Collins Gibson.
