Cook, Carolyn Parker, age 81, of Hermitage, TN, died Friday, January 2, 2015. Mrs. Cook was a member of the Lebanon Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was the daughter of the late, Thomas Alfred and Willie Bryan Parker. Mrs. Cook was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Charles Dee Cook; sister, Jessie Bilbrey and infant brother, T.A. Parker, Jr.

Chase Baker officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Salem Cemetery in Liberty, TN. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Capers, Bobby Harold, age 72, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died January 10, 2015. The Honorable Bobby Capers was a retired Circuit Court Judge in the 15th Judicial District of Tennessee. Judge Capers attended Mt. Juliet Church of Christ, Hermitage United Methodist Church and First Baptist Church of Mt. Juliet. He was preceded in death by his precious mother, Jewel Presley Capers and his brother, Jimmy Thomas Capers.

Kay, Mark Edward, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2015. Mr. Kay was born September 13, 1932 to the late, James E. and Brucie Hurt Kay and was a life-long resident of Hermitage, TN. He was a member of Tulip Grove Baptist Church and served as a deacon of New Hope Baptist Church for many years. Mr. Kay was a graduate of Donelson High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955 in Germany. After returning home, he had a 36 year career with Ford Glass Plant. He retired in 1996 as a supervisor. Mr. Kay was a hard worker with a natural talent for fixing anything from electrical to woodwork to cars; he enjoyed helping others using those talents. He was a Ford man who loved tinkering with cars, farming, reading, and traveling. Some of his fondest travel memories were when a group of Ford friends and spouses went to Hawaii together, trips to Alaska where he fished for salmon, and his 50th wedding anniversary trip to the Grand Canyon with his children and grandchildren. He loved his family more than anything on earth and especially loved being “Poppy” to his precious grandchildren. He will be missed by all.

Cornelius, Lonnie Scott, age 50, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died January 12, 2015. Scott was a member of First Baptist Church of Hermitage and attended Faith is the Victory Church. He was a 1982 graduate of McGavock High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Griffith, Donald Ray “Don”, age 76, a resident of Mt. Juliet, TN for 18 years, was born in Marysville, Kansas February 19, 1938 and went to his heavenly home January 24, 2015. Don was an active member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Juliet and a member of Gideons International helping to distribute copies of Bibles for many years. He was a graduate of Hiawatha High School, Highland College and Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia, KS. He earned a Phd from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. Don spent his life helping children and some adults who were developmentally delayed, learning disabled or brain injured. He worked for many years writing developmental guidelines to rehabilitate those who were disabled. Don worked in San Antonio, TX before moving to Tennessee where he worked and retired from the State of Tennessee as a Licenser Coordinator for Mental Health and Mental Retardation facilities. Antique cars, fishing and hunting were among his favorite pastimes. Don was preceded in death by his father, Claris Raymond Griffith; mother, Thelma Marguerite Colvert Schnackel; step-father, Louie Schnackel; siblings, Roger Griffith and Sharon Mauslein. Don’s contributions of improving life for many, his being a Christian role model for his family and friends, as well as loving husband and father, means he will be missed very much.

Hamblen, Joyce H., age 80, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died January 27, 2015.  Joyce was a member of Victory Baptist Church and the Wayne Oakley Sunday School Class. She was a former member of New Hope where she served as pianist for over forty years. Joyce was the daughter of the late, Will C. and Rosie Lee Sullivan Hamblen. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Donald Hamblen and her brother-in-law, Kenneth Donnell.

George, Dorothy Edith “Dottie”, age 87, of Hermitage, TN, died January 29, 2015. Dottie was a longtime resident of McKendree Village where she served as a volunteer. She enjoyed sewing, handwork, crafts, painting and was considered to be a “BINGO Queen”. Dottie loved watching tv, especially westerns. She was the daughter of the late, Earl and Karen Matthews Chambliss. Dottie was also preceded in death by her husband, Louis George and several siblings.

Frazer, Mary Lou Rice, age 96, lifetime resident of Mt. Juliet, TN, died January 31, 2015. Mary Lou was a member of Hermitage Church of Christ. She was retired from South Central Bell where she had worked since she was 18 years old. Mary Lou was a member of the Mt. Juliet Chamber of Commerce. She was an avid volunteer over her life span with the Jerry Lewis Telethon, March of Dimes, Big Brothers of Wilson County and the Wilson County Election Commission. She also worked on many Presidential, Senatorial and Gubernatorial elections. Mary Lou was the daughter of the late, William Hooper and Mary Lucian Hunter Rice. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Keeling “Buddy” Frazer and her siblings, Edward, Earl, Vivon, William “Bill”, Margaret Elizabeth, Thomas and Gordon.

Mann, Margaret Eloise, age 83, a resident of Del Webb in Mt. Juliet, TN, died January 24, 2015. Mrs. Mann was employed by the Indiana Air National Guard for 30 years. She retired on August 1, 1987.Mrs. Mann was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Indiana – 600 Waynedale Chapter and the Del Webb Knit & Crochet for Charity Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hamer Braden Mann; son, David W. Mann; granddaughter, Elizabeth C. Mann; brothers, Orville and Glen Meggs and sisters, Ruth E. Meggs, Esther Meggs and Harriett Meggs.

 

She is survived by:

Sons – Kenneth N. Mann and Steven H. Mann

Daughter and son-in-law – Kathleen Unger and William R. Unger

Sister – (Lela) Frances Scott

Grandchildren – Tara R. Lunardi, Todd R. Honaker, Brian J. Mann,

                       Jason D. Mann, Kenneth N. Mann, II,

                       Steven H. Mann, II and LeAnne Dunlap

Great-grandchildren – Brittany V. Mann, Grace E. Mann, Samuel J. Dunlap

                               and Caleb S. Dunlap

 

Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ken Shaw.

 

Inurnment will be July 6, 2015 at Hamer Cemetery, Spring Mill State Park, Mitchell, Indiana.
