Garton, Edith Christine “Chris”, age 89, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died April 1, 2015. Mrs. Garton was a member of Mt. Juliet Church of Christ. She was formerly employed by Sunbeam Bakery and Bill Crook’s Grocery. Mrs. Garton was the daughter of the late, Arthur B. “Luther and Annie Marie Buchli Coles. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Paul Garton and daughter, Cynthia Lynn Keckler. She was a super mom.

Morris, Ethel A., age 94, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died April 3, 2015. Mrs. Morris was of the Pentecostal faith. She was a 1938 graduate of Waite High School. She also graduated from Warner Beauty College. Mrs. Morris was employed by Gabrelean Salon and Libby Owens Ford during WWII. She also worked at two bakeries owned by her father. Mrs. Morris was the daughter of the late, Albert and Anna Hess Meyer. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Thomas Evans Morris; her children, Karen Shepherd Swann and Jon Morris and her brother, Elmer Meyer.

Foriest, Dora Dean Mash, age 93, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died April 5, 2015 in St. Petersburg, FL. Dora was a member of Center Chapel Church of Christ and the Mt. Juliet Senior Citizen Center. She attended high school in Hickman County, TN and was retired from the maintenance department of Martin Marietta Corporation. Dora was also a seamstress for many years and was known for her excellent cooking skills. Dora was the daughter of the late, Donnie and Algie Mash and the wife of the late, Burnice Foriest. Young, John Lanier, age 76, of Castalian Springs, TN, died April 29, 2015. Mr. Young was a member of First Baptist Church of Gallatin. He attended Mississippi College, Vanderbilt University and Seminary in Kentucky. Mr. Young had served a Band Director at Dupont High School and as Principal at Neely Bend School and Gra-Mar Elementary School. He had also served as Minister of Music at Inglewood Methodist Church for 15 years and at Old Hickory Presbyterian Church. Mr. Young loved sailing and participated and won awards in the 1969 Tennessean Regatta. He was the son of the late, William Pryor and Ethel Mae Duran Young. Mr. Young was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amanda Fudge.

William Lee “Bill” Patton (July 25, 1938 – April 30, 2015)
William Lee Patton, a native of Watertown and long-time Mt. Juliet resident, passed to his heavenly home at age 76 on Thursday, April 30, 2015. Bill Patton put lymphoma on its heels for 10 active years of family, farming and fishing… and a little politics. Bill served as a Wilson County Commissioner for 16 years and on the Mt. Juliet City Commission for one term in the 1980s.
Bill is preceded in death by parents Thomas William and Maymie Lee Patton. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Faye James Patton; children Lisa Wheeler (Eric), Lora Patton Hall (Chad Barnard), & Lyle Patton (Julie). “Papaw” will be missed beyond measure by his doting grandchildren: Madeline, Brenna & Eli Wheeler; Taylor & Tucker Hall; Aaron Sellars (Danielle), Alex & Will Patton. Sister Patsy Emery (Jim), brother Tommy Patton (Loretta), aunt Janet Swift (Tommie).
Mr. Patton served in the United States Air Force, worked for Western Electric for more than 30 years and retired from AT&T, was an active member of the Wilson County Farmer’s Coop, Wilson County Fair Board, Wilson County Farm Bureau Board of Directors, The Cattleman’s Association as well as various other community organizations.
Bill and Faye are charter members of Victory Baptist Church where visitation will be held Saturday, May 2, from 3-7pm and Sunday, May 3 at 12:30 with funeral service at 2pm. Pallbearers will include all eight grandchildren, Bill Sloan, Merrill Weston, & Jim Lamberson. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Wayne Oakley Sunday School Class.
