Bunish, Mary T., age 77, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died September 1, 2014 at Mt. Juliet Healthcare after an extended illness. Mary was born November 24, 1936 in Windsor Heights, WV. She retired from McDermott International on September 1, 1979 as executive secretary to the company president. Mary was an active member of St. Stephen Catholic Community and the KCLA in Old Hickory, TN. She was also a member of the Mt. Juliet Senior Center where she was an active fundraiser. Her passions were crafts, including sewing and quilting and world-wide travel. Mary was the daughter of the late, Matthew A. and Anna Plinta Galich. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Matthew J. Galich.

Wharton, Sr., Donald Dean, age 89, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died September 13, 2014. Mr. Wharton was the son of the late, Dave and Berta Goodrum Wharton. He was also preceded in death by his son, Bill Wharton and sisters, Edith Jolly and Jo Marie Gordon. Originally from Dallas, Texas, Donald began his career as an aviator upon entering military service during WWII, serving as an Air Force pilot in the Philippines and post war in Germany. After 23 years of service, he retired with the rank of Major. He then flew throughout Southeast Asia for eight years as a pilot for Air America, Inc. Donald was then employed for ten years by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as an instructor pilot for the Saudi Arabian Air Force. His career afforded the opportunity for him and his beloved wife of 69 years, Ava Nell, to travel extensively throughout the world, living in several states and four foreign countries. After completing his working career, he served for several years as an active member of the Gideon’s International, as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and as an active church member of Life Assembly in Mt. Juliet.

Graves, Gilbert Leroy, age 82, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died September 26, 2014.
Mr. Graves was a native of Mt. Juliet, TN and the son of the late, Grafton L. and Clara Bell Hamblen Graves. He was a lifetime member of Center Chapel Church of Christ. Mr. Graves served as an MP in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He served on the Wilson County Commission for 44 years and served as past chairman pro tem of the Wilson County Court/Commission. Mr. Graves also served on the first Planning Commission, the first Joint Economic Development Board, the Road Commission for Wilson County and the Wilson County Farm Bureau Board of Directors. He was a charter member of the Mt. Juliet Breakfast Rotary Club, Big Brothers of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee and the Wilson County Fair Board. Along with his parents, Mr. Graves was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Donald E. “Rusty” Ferrell.

Keyser, Richard J. “Dick”, age 95, died September 19, 2014. A native of Fort Wayne, IN, Dick enjoyed a successful career in manufacturing, including over 29 years with General Electric. His tenure with G.E. included positions as Manage of Manufacturing for the Home Laundry Division at the Appliance Park in Louisville, KY, as well as the Large Steam Turbine and Generator Division in Schenectady, NY. After retiring from his manufacturing career, Dick moved his family to Benton, KY, where he purchased and operated Sportsman’s Marina on Jonathan Creek for several years in the 1970’s. Afterwards, he attained his real estate broker license and owned/operated Dick Keyser Real Estate until he formally retired in his 70’s. Dick’s love for boating led him to join the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and became a Qualified Examiner during his retirement years. He also volunteered his time as a recruiter for the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and was an active member of the Maple Spring United Methodist Church for over 30 years. Prior to his health declining and his subsequent move to Nashville, TN in 2008, Dick fulfilled his lifelong dream of living on a houseboat as a year-round resident at Kenlake Marina in Aurora, KY.
