Burdine, Jean McRae, age 87, of Old Hickory, TN, died March 3, 2014. Mrs. Burdine was a faithful member of Hermitage United Methodist Church and the Ballinger Sunday School Class. She was a 1944 graduate of Isaac Litton High School. After graduation she was employed as a programmer for National Life Insurance Company. She retired in 1965 and became a mother and homemaker and began her journey assisting her husband in creating and operating the family wholesale plumbing and electrical supply business. Mrs. Burdine was the daughter of the late, Thomas Kenneth and Sallie Hall McRae. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Lucille (George) Bryan, Helen McRae and Grace (Leonard) Staggs. She enjoyed spending time loving her entire family, especially her three granddaughters. She always had a smile to share with everyone she met.

She is survived by:

Husband of 50 years – Robert Dean Burdine

Daughter – Sallie (James) Dye

Granddaughters – Elizabeth Dye, Julianna Dye and Caroline Dye

 

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2014 at Hermitage United Methodist Church, 205 Belinda Drive, Hermitage, TN with Rev. Gary Speich officiating.

 

Interment will follow at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens.

Kennedy, Lafayette Nelson “L.N.”, age 82, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died peacefully at home on the morning of March 4, 2014 after a long life well lived. Mr. Kennedy was an active member of Grace Baptist Church in Mt. Juliet, TN. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War. Mr. Kennedy was retired from both IBM and Eastman Kodak. His passions were traveling, reading, fishing and his grandchildren.

Powell, Scott Taylor, age 56, of Mt. Juliet, TN, lost his battle with cancer on March 6, 2014. Scott was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. Scott was dedicated to always being proud of a job well done, both at work and with his much loved family. He was a man many aspired to emulate, and will be greatly missed by all. Scott was the son of the late, John Thomas Powell and Dorothy Marie Moran.

McCrary, Bobby Charles, age 80, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died March 7, 2014. Bobby was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was a member of the Dependables Sunday School Class. He was the son of the late, Bob and Mrystis Murphy McCrary. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Pearl McCrary and his brothers, Otho and H.B. McCrary.

Green, Eileen Ferrell, age 90, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died March 10, 2014. Mrs. Green was a member of Cooks United Methodist Church for over 50 years and Harvey Freeman Chapter #181 Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years. She was employed as a bookkeeper for several businesses for many years.Mrs. Green was the daughter of the late, Charles and Margueritte Niaina Ferrell. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Ralph Walden Green, Jr.

Coffey, Linda Susan, age 64, of Old Hickory, TN, died March 8, 2014. Ms. Coffey served thirty years in the U.S. Air Force, state side and abroad, and retired with the rank of Colonel. She was also an employee of Vanderbilt University Medical Center for 13 years as a clinical nurse in women’s health and postpartem care. Ms. Coffey was preceded in death by her father, Frank Jackson Coffey and her sister, Pamela Gaye Coffey.

Barnes, William Bradley “Brad”, age 35, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died March 7, 2014. Brad had been a white water rafting guide on the Ocoee River. He was a recent graduate of Miller-Motte Technical College. Brad was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Louis and Isa Barnes and maternal grandfather, William J. Perdue.

Musick, Paul David, age 42, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died March 9, 2014. Paul was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Tennessee Air National Guard and served one year in Desert Storm. Paul enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and traveled the world for four years. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army and attended air assault school at Ft. Campbell and paratrooper training at Ft. Benning and made 92 parachute jumps all over the world. Paul served one year in Kuwait. For four years he was attached to the 5th Special Forces with whom he served three tours in Iraq. He attained a rank of Sergeant First Class.

Mayo, Barbara Ann Ferguson, age 81, of Nashville, TN, died March 14, 2014. Barbara was a hair stylist at Wayne’s Unisex Salon. She was a member of Harvey Freeman, Chapter #181, Order of the Eastern Star. Barbara was the daughter of the late, James Cecil and Eula Mae King Ferguson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Stewart Mayo.

Cook, R. Lynn, passed away on March 21, 2014 in Colorado Springs, Co.If a man’s life can be measured in units of joy, Lynn Cook’s name would surely be on the leader board. Born in Rockwood, TN on January 28, 1947, Lynn attended Crossville High School and graduated from MTSU with a double major in biology and partying. Lynn had a long and varied career in Health Care Administration starting in 1974 with the Department of Health for the State of Tennessee. He worked as a physician recruiter, hospital developer, and a group practice manager throughout his career. Lynn’s life and career took him from Tennessee to Kentucky, Texas and finally Colorado where he retired in 2009.

 

Lynn is survived by:

Wife – Liz Cook of Colorado Springs, CO

Daughter Jordan Cook of London, England

Grandchildren – Finn and Hayden Campbell of London, England
