Startup, Bonnie Jean Cooper, age 66, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died September 25, 2014. Mrs. Startup was a member of Victory Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late, James L. Cooper and Daisy Hollis Cooper Green.

 

She is survived by:

Husband – H. Richard Startup

Sons – Shawn M. Startup and David P. (Eliza) Startup

Brother – James L. (Linda) Cooper

 

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Rev. Chuck Groover officiating. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jimbo Farrell, Chris Moore, Bill Henry, Bryan Chumley, Bill Tune and Ryan Long.

Graves, Gilbert Leroy, age 82, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died September 26, 2014.

Mr. Graves was a native of Mt. Juliet, TN and the son of the late, Grafton L. and Clara Bell Hamblen Graves. He was a lifetime member of Center Chapel Church of Christ. Mr. Graves served as an MP in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He served on the Wilson County Commission for 44 years and served as past chairman pro tem of the Wilson County Court/Commission. Mr. Graves also served on the first Planning Commission, the first Joint Economic Development Board, the Road Commission for Wilson County and the Wilson County Farm Bureau Board of Directors. He was a charter member of the Mt. Juliet Breakfast Rotary Club, Big Brothers of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee and the Wilson County Fair Board. Along with his parents, Mr. Graves was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Donald E. “Rusty” Ferrell.

 

He is survived by:

Wife of 59 years – Mary Lou Roeser Graves

Daughter – Diane (Don) Weathers

Son – Barry (Kelley) Graves

Siblings - Donna G. Ferrell, Brenda (Bob) Lannom, Mahlon (Elois) Graves,

              Eddie (Beverly) Graves and Susan (Steve) Davis

Grandchildren – Darren (Allison) Weathers and Trent Graves

Several nieces and nephews

 

Funeral services will be conducted 12 noon Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Center Chapel Church of Christ, 9500 Central Pike, Mt. Juliet, TN with Bro. Darrell Duncan, Bro. Andy Connelly and Rev. Chuck Groover officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens.

 

Active pallbearers will be nephews, Mark Ferrell, Stephen Graves, Christopher Graves, John G. Graves, Lee Lannom and Aaron Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Oco Hamblen, Terry Ashe, Sonny Tillman, Drew Hobbs, Randall Hutto, Billy Patton, Lon Mires, Dale McCulloch, David Lawrence, Robert Bryan, Johnny Trice, Monty Mires, Robert Dedman, Val Kelly, Melvin Nelson, Norman Gillespie, Stant Eakes, Jerry Griffin, Joby Eakes and Billy Rowland.

Matthews, Sarah Dean Holland, age 96, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died September 29, 2014. Mrs. Matthews was a member of Mt. Juliet Church of Christ. She was retired form McQuiddy Printing Company. Mrs. Matthews was the daughter of the late, Barney R. and Rubye Virginia Lewis Holland. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Zilmon Odell “Bobby” Matthews; siblings, Charlotte Miller, Virginia Wright and J.T. Holland and granddaughter, Michele Matthews Esposito.

 

She is survived by:

Sons – John L. (Debbie) Matthews and Philip D. Matthews

Grandchildren – Terri Matthews Heidebreicht and Katrina Matthews Sekhani

Great-grandchildren – Mary Elizabeth Esposito, Anne Marie Heidebreicht,  Alaina Leigh 

                                          Heidebreicht and Carlin Elise Sekhani

Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Bro. Bill Speight officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Albert England, Pat Hackney, Larry Engles, Tommy Williams, Stephen Wright and Tommy Holland. Dewayne Griffin will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
